12- ABM (AYALA) Week-6

BUSINESS ETHICS

B. Directions: You must have experienced bahala na, ningas-cogon, and mañana habit as a student. Recall what
happened or in what situation did you experience each of these. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.

Bahala Na

Going back to my elementary lazy days I usually say this word “Bahala na” whenever I feel like I’m confuse about the
things. I remember my old self during our recitations, exams and performances my classmate usually asked this
question; “How would you answer the possible question that our teacher gave to us if you didn’t even review the past
lesson plus you didn’t even prepare an effort for our upcoming performance this afternoon?” I usually answer this
question by saying, “Bahala na, may stock knowledge naman ako plus madiskarte kaya basta bahala na.” In my
realization I say this word because for me in that moment I am always unsure about the consequences that might
happen. Additionally, I say this phrase as if all I want is to go with the flow, without minding what the outcome might be.
Sometimes when I say “Bahala na” I usually felt like I am encouraging and telling myself that I am ready to deal with
tough situations or life-changing moments that may come into my life. Saying this phrase is the same as declaring my
confidence that I can come up with solutions when those events finally arrive. However, instead of seeing it as an act of
laziness or a fatalistic approach to problems, I say that it is actually a demonstration of determination and willingness to
take risks.

Ningas-cogon

I remember my internet friend during this pandemic he is excellent in all the work that he did and he also had a good
grades, he is the first honor on his school. I remember the time when we use to share achievements together and
making a beautiful and creative outputs to impress our subject teachers, back then we both said to ourselves this
quotation “All of this hard work will be a fruit of success in the future, no matter how long it takes we will pass all the
upcoming circumstances in our life” This quotation of ours brighten our negative thoughts to continue everything that
counts. But as the days and weeks go by this friend of mine is being inactive on social media, at first I thought he is just
busy taking his chosen course that’s why I didn’t take the first move to approach him. After a month during our 3 rd
quarter I heard a news that my friend is no longer on honor list, he didn’t even submit any single output during that
quarter that’s why I chat him regarding this issue and he replied that “I am sorry to disappoint you, to be honest I lost
my strength to perform my best, I lost my interest to do the things that I usually do, I lost my motivation to continue
everything that counts.” I was shocked on what he say and what I’d read, because I never expect this would happen and
he also blocked me on his social media accounts that’s why I can’t talk to him same as before, but I guess it is a personal
matter of him nor his fighting on his silent battles alone that’s why I respect his misbehavior. In my realization this
“Ningas Cogon” is the attitude when we start something with interest and enthusiasm, then after a very short time, we
lose interest and stop whatever it is we are doing. Leaving things incomplete.

Mañana Habit

To be honest until now I often say this “Mamaya na/ Mañana Habit” every time that I am doing something especially
when I’m studying and doing my activities and some of my family member approach a little bit of help for things that
they can’t do alone. For me as a person who has the habit of saying this word/ phrase it is the best answer to say
“mamaya na” than saying “No” to people whose requesting for my assistance. It is sometimes beneficial because I can
relax, rest and focus, it can also help me to avoid being stressed. Base on my observation on some of my classmate
during this day they also had this Manana Habit that affects the mood, decision power, and most of all this might be
dangerous for them specially when it becomes their habit. In some other ways this “Mañana Habit” is about finding a
way to delay the work to be done.
