MANAGEMENT STUDY

4.1 Business organization

The proponents choose the business organization to be the sole

proprietorship type under Dietlicious. A sole proprietorship is a non-

associated business with a single owner called the proprietor, who

generally oversees the whole operations of the business known as the

manager (Twin, 2021). Also, the owner will receive all the profits and

gains, obliged to all handle and pay the expenses and losses wherein it is

solely responsible for all the receivables and payables of the business.

There is no separate cost to establish a sole proprietorship. Furthermore,

the owner will manage the business, and it is the most common type of

business.

These are the following advantages of Sole Proprietorship: First, low start-

up costs, wherein there are a limited number of employees that deal with

expenses, taxes, and compensation. Also, it is not costly for legal

requirements, and as for bonuses and incentives, there will be fewer

people to pay. The second is, profit, wherein the owner can keep all the

profits to themselves, unlike partnership and corporation where the profits

will be divided among themselves. On the other hand, the disadvantages

of Sole Proprietorship are the following: First, the Personal and Business
Assets wherein the owner's and money is tied to their business. Also, the

owner can risk their asset to manage the issues of the business. Second,

Less Capital, wherein the owner has limited capital or cannot come up

with a large amount of capital to start and sustain the business. Thirdly,

the taxes wherein the single owner is paying personally will pay the taxes

as self-employed (Chief, 2017).

Furthermore, the sole proprietorship stability will depend upon the owner's

efficiency, capacity, and life cycle (SubjectQuery.Com, 2019). Efficiency

in the operations and system of the business wherein the business can

recover and handle the risks and management of the business. When it

comes to capacity, it must assess the financial asset of the owner if it can

finance the business. Lastly, the owner's life cycle determines the

business’s continuity.

As a sole proprietorship, the following will be the nature and

characteristics of Dietlicious: First, The owner, Mrs. Mary Luz B.

Baclaan, will oversee and manage the business. Second, The owner has

total control in operations and authority to decide the business profits,

gain, investments, and resources. Third, The owner will handle all the

losses, liabilities, debts, and risks incurred by the Dietlicious. Fourth, The

business's taxable profit will be filed against the owner's income tax form.

It will be taxed at the proprietor's marginal tax rate, which may be lower

than the corporate tax rate. Fifth, If the business has a loss, it will offset

the other assets or incomes of the owner. Sixth, The business may be
closed or stopped when the owner deemed it necessary for reasons like

death, prolonged illness, or transfer of ownership.

4.2 Organizational structure

Figure 4.1 Organizational Structure of Dietlicious

Figure 4.1 shows the Dietlicious Organizational Structure. The

owner is the head or oversees the business operations and systems,

wherein he is known to have the highest authority. Also, the owner is the

one who handles the position of General Manager, wherein they will make

a decision analysis of the business. Also, under the owner, there will be

four departments. The first department is the Finance Department, wherein

the Cashier or Order Manager will transact all the orders. The second

department is the Kitchen Department under the head of Chef with their

assistant cook wherein they will prepare and cook the meal plans of the

customers. The third department is the Logistics under the Food Delivery

Men, wherein they will check and deliver the meal plans products of the
business. The fourth department is the Floor Department under the head of

the Dishwasher. They are responsible for washing all the utensils, plates,

glass, and other cooking equipment and materials.

4.3 Staffing requirements

Staffing and Manning Count

Table 3.11 shows the availability of job positions in the

Dietlicious. The business will have a total of 8 employees. The staffing

and manning count plan were to cater to and accommodate all the

customer's efficiency and the total capacity of the Dietlicious operations.

With these employees, the Dietlicious will manage and perform

appropriately and effectively.

For the Cashier or Order Manager, the owner will own this position. While

for the position of Head Chef and Assistant Cook, the owner will hire and

conduct a food quality and tasting session with the specific job

requirements and job descriptions. The owner will refer to their experience

and capability for the dishwasher with the following criteria and

definitions. The owner will refer to their driving skills and characteristics

as stewards for the Food Delivery men. Also, the owner's approval is

necessary to ensure that the employees hired are trained and fit for their

position. The employee's salary will be at an hourly rate. Hence, No work

and No pay for employees absent in the prior working schedules. Their

wages will be distributed depending on the position. Table 3.11 presents

the schedule of distributions of salary or wages payments and the number

needed for a particular job with their work schedules.

Job Qualifications

The job qualifications refer to the job opening's work

experience, skills, and educational background. The owner will use

these qualifications for selecting the applicants for the interview.

Although the qualifications will not be solely used for the hiring

after conducting the interview, they will be the standard and

necessary for the selection process of the applicants. Show in
