Monkeypox suspected case

The one year and half (18 months) child living in Jigjiga city specially village 07, Somali regional
state was found the sign and symptoms of Nigerian Monkeypox. The monkeypox is endemic in
central and western African countries.

Sign and symptoms include:

 Chills and sweating


 Body temperature of 38.4oc
 Generalized body weakness
 Cervical and inguinal lymphadenopathy
 Loss of appetite
 Rash and skin lesion

There is no travel history in the family, while the child had history of allergic to substances like
perfumes, confy diaper, etc.

Differential diagnosis

Chicken pox

Small pox
