PART II: IDENTIFICATION. Purposes of Communication in Tour Guiding. Identify from the
Dialog specific lines that correspond to the following communication purposes. (10pts)
Carmen: That’s interesting! I’m sure you will like the next
place we are going to visit, too. It’s called Balay sa
Humay. “Balay” means house, and “humay” means
rice. It’s an interactive museum.
2. TOUR GUIDING SCENARIO: Your group tour is scheduled to have dinner at Laguna Garden Café &
Restaurant. However, when your group arrives at the said restaurant, the waiter and the management
insist that your travel agency didn’t book you for dinner that night, and the restaurant is full. How will
you handle this situation?
I will contact immediately the travel agency regarding this matter. It was in the itinerary that we
have scheduled dinner in the Laguna Garden and Cafe and ask them why we don't have a
successful booking. I will ask them book/look for option or "supplier" immediately. On the other
hand, I will look for available restaurant nearby that can cater group or search an available
restaurant through eatigo, an online platform. In such a case, the travel agency is at fault,
therefore they will give pay the cost and provide incentive for the group. For the tourist, I will
sincerely apologize them and communicate effectively about problem that arise.
