KEEPING OUR TEETH HEALTHY

It's very important to have healthy teeth. Good teeth help us chew our food. They also help
us look nice. How does a tooth go bad? The decay begins in a little crack in the enamel covering
of the tooth. This happens after germs and bit of food have collected there. Then the decay
slowly spreads inside to the tooth. Eventually, poison goes into the blood, and we may feel quite
ill.
How can we keep our teeth healthy? First, we ought to visit the dentist twice a year. He can
fill the small holes in our teeth before they destroy the teeth. He can examine our teeth to check
that they are growing in the right way.
Secondly, we should brush our teeth with a toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste at least
twice a day-once after the breakfast and once before we go to bed. We can also use wooden
toothpicks to clean between our teeth after a meal.
Thirdly, we should eat food that is good for our teeth and our body: milk, cheese, fish,
brown bread, potatoes, red rice, raw vegetables, and fresh fruits. Chocolates, sweets, biscuits and
cakes are bad, especially when we eat them between meals. They are harmful because they stick
to our teeth and cause decay.

The Temple of Literature is about 1 0 minutes away
from Swordlake. It was constructed in 1070 under Ly
Thanh Tong's dynasty. In 1076, King Ly Nhan Tong
continued the work and built it as the first university of

The temple is divided into five courtyards, each with its own significance and history.
There are a total of 82 tombstones, with names and origins of 1307 doctors, corresponding to 82
examination courses from 1442 to 1779. If you visit the temple at the beginning of the year or in

who come and rub the tortoise head. Such an action is believed to bring them luck to pass the

Obesity has become a more and more common disease among teenagers. The causes of
obesity are related to different factors such as genes, biology, behavior and culture. Obesity
occurs when a person eats more calories than the body burns. If one parent is obese, there is a 50

Being a volunteer is one of the best things you can do with your life. It's a great way to
help other people. It's also very satisfying to know that you are not wasting your time and are
helping people who need help. Many of us could and should be out there doing voluntary

My favourite hobby is reading. I enjoy reading a book when I have time. I started to do it
when I was four years old. The first time I did it, I felt interested. So I kept reading. The teachers
always taught me to read the difficult words. I was happy when I read a story with a happy
ending. I was thrilled when I read a detective story. I enjoy reading because I like to explore the
imaginative world of my favourite author, J.K.Rowling who writes " Harry Potter".
There are a lot of advantages of reading. Reading can make me relaxed and calm. I can also learn
new vocabulary items. Then I can further improve my English. Moreover, it can give me an
unlimited imagination, so I can write books in the future. I can learn the different cultures of
other countries in the world too. I read at least one hour every day. I read books by myself at
home. I wish I could read different kinds of books because it might be very challenging.

1. Welcome everyone to the Volunteer program in Galapagos Islands Farm Ecuador. It is a
meaningful job because the poor farmer here really need your helping hands. There are a lot for
you to do when you take part in the campaign, so every day is different. However, there are two
main jobs. The first one is to help farmers during the harvest time. You have to do something by
hands, but of course, we have machines to help you out with heavy tasks. The second job is to do
maintenance work in the school. Most of the schools here are very old and poorly - equipped. A
lot of things need to be fixed to make sure that children are safe in their classroom. Both jobs are
equally important to the people here.
2. If you join us, you need to know some information about your stay here. The Volunteer's
house has 6 bedrooms, with 3 bathroom and 2 showers with hot water outside of the house.

Volunteers share bedrooms of 4 people. Three meals a day are served in the farm by the local
staff. Volunteers usually work for five days each week in the morning, with weekends off.
Afternoons are free to go to the port, visit the beach, and any other activities you might enjoy.
Evenings are quiet and usually spent chatting, listening to music, writing in your journal or
reading.

I'm a great art lover. I look at beautiful paintings and sculptures and wish I could be artistic.
I can't draw or paint to save my life. I wonder why some people are so talented and can create
amazing pictures, when other people, like me, can't even draw good matchstick figures. I would
like to fill my house with art from all over the world. It's interesting to see how different cultures
have different kinds of art. There's nothing better than visiting art galleries when you go to
another country. I prefer more traditional art. I don't really understand a lot of modern art. I look
at an exhibit of a pile of bricks in a museum but can't see how it's art. I always laugh when my
children say, "Daddy, I can do y better than that!" I often think they can.

Among all the Vietnamese dishes that came to the attention of foreigner visitors, nothing
else is more popular than Pho. Pho is considered as the national dish of Vietnam. Pho is the
perfect comfort food - warm, hearty and deliciously refreshing. In Vietnam it's a very common
food for all people. It's street food, too. It was born at the beginning of the twentieth century in
and around Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Some people say that long before Pho was
popularized on the streets of Hanoi, it was being prepared in Nam Dinh, a province located about
fifty-five miles from Hanoi. But it is not certain. We just know that Pho originated from the
North of Vietnam. There are 2 main types of Pho: Pho of the North and Pho of the South. Many
people agree that Pho of the North has an intense and delicate flavor. This is completely different
from Pho of the South.

The Temple of Literature is about 10 minutes away from Hoan Kiem lake. It was constructed
in 1070 during Ly Thanh Tong's dynasty. In 1076, King Ly Nhan Tong continued the work and
built the temple of literature Quoc Tu Giam as the first university of Vietnam.
The temple is divided into five courtyards. The first courtyard stretches from the main gate to
Dai Trung gate; the second stands out with Khue Van Cac pavilion. The third courtyard is where
doctor names was listed on a tombstone above tortoise backs. There are a total of 82 tombstones,
with names and origins of 1307 doctors in 82 examination courses from 1442 to 1779. In exam
time, numerous students come here and rub the tortoise head. People believe that this act will
bring them luck to pass the test. The fourth courtyard is dedicated for Confucius and his 72
honoured students, as well as Chu Van An. The last and also furthest courtyard is Thai Hoc
house, which used to be The temple of literature - the first university of Vietnam. The temple of
Literature opens from 8:30 to 1 1:30 in the morning and from 13:30 to 16:30 in the afternoon,
everyday except Monday and national holidays.

Hi, everyone! My name is Dave. Last weekend, I had a wonderful time joining in a small
volunteer campaign with lots of my schoolmates. Its name was "Go green". It was organized by
my school. What we did was to make our school and three other schools in the area become
greener. We planted a lot of trees in different parts of the schools. We divided into teams of six.
Each group had one teacher as a leader and was responsible for a small area. Our group planted 5
small trees and 1 bigger one in my school and 9 small trees in other schools. We planted 15 trees
in total! Not a small number, right? It was great to help other schools. The school bus took us to
those schools and we spent one and a half day to work in the three schools. I was a bit tired on
the second day, but it was a lot of fun to meet some new friends. After that day, I got 2 new
interesting friends!!! Also, it was a good chance for me to learn about teamwork.

Playing a musical instrument is a great hobby to have. I started playing the piano when I was
five years old. I still really enjoy it now. It's a perfect way to relax and cheers me up when I'm
feeling down. I have a lovely reddish piano.
It was a gift from my grandmother for my 1 3th birthday. Although it is not a brand new piano,
I really like it. When I feel tired or stressed because of studying, I often take a break to play
something energetic. It helps me relax. I also like to play some pieces of beautiful music to
my family members, especially my elder sister. Because she knows a lot about music. And she
loves music and piano too. I have piano lessons every week. My teacher helps me a lot. She likes

can play some music by my favorite composer Beethoven. Sometimes, when I am away from
home, I cannot play my piano, then I really miss it. I wish that pianos were as portable as guitars
and trumpets so that I could take it along with me all the time.
