SCENE 1: LIFT OFF

A car pulls up and the door opens.

A wheelie bag rolls along the ground.

A door in the floor of a launchpad opens, revealing the nose

cone of a rocket.

The platform with the rocket on it starts to lift up. The

launchpad is out at sea.

The engines start, and the heat distorts the image. The
rocket takes off.
(The song "Mad World"
starts playing)

Inside the rocket, Clint looks out at the quickly shrinking

ocean, getting smaller and smaller.

The rocket reaches space, and docks with a larger ship

Clint lies down in a white metal chamber, and the lid

closes, sealing him inside. He enters cryogenic sleep, and
the moisture of his breath flowers against the glass. We see
the hundreds of other passengers on the ship, also in
cryogenic sleep.

The Title card "Programed Insanity" comes up

SCENE 2: THE DUAT

Clint is in a white void. A young girls voice calls

EMILY
Clint! Clint!

CLINT
Coming

EMILY
Whats the problem? you cant keep up
with a 6 year old?

Clint steps towards her, and she takes a step back, and
another

CLINT
Emily Stop. Stop there... Emily stop!

Emily takes another step back and falls, landing with a

splash in the water.

Her face is blank, just a grey head, faceless, and not real.
Clint dives in after her, and lands in another white void.

EMILY
Clint! Clint!

CLINT
Coming

EMILY
Whats the problem? you cant keep up
with a 6 year old?

Clint steps towards her, and she takes a step back, and
another

CLINT
Emily Stop. Stop there... Emily stop!

Emily takes another step back and falls, landing with a

splash in the water. Her face is blank, just a grey head,
faceless, and not real. Clint dives in after her, and lands
in another white void.

EMILY
Clint! Clint!

Emily's voice fades, as Clint wakes up.

SCENE 3: ARRIVAL

The transport ship floats through a large bubble surrounding

an asteroid called a biome, and lands in the rocky desert
landscape.

Clint is walking down a corridor, when Jake (his friend)

walks up beside him.

JAKE
Hey

CLINT
Hey

JAKE
So... we made it huh
(Laughing)
didn't get ambushed by raiders or
anything

There is an awkward silence as the two walk along the

corridor

JAKE (cont'd)
You're talkative... whats up

CLINT
Nothing, nothings up, I just...
(Shrugs)
I don't know

SCENE 4: DREAMS AGAIN

Clint is asleep in his bunk.

in his dream he is in a white void. A young girls voice

calls

EMILY
Clint! Clint!

CLINT
Coming

EMILY
Whats the problem? you cant keep up

CLINT
Emily Stop. Stop there... Emily stop!

Emily takes another step back and falls, landing with a

SCENE 5: TALKING ABOUT THE DUAT

Clint and Jake are walking in the rocky hills of the

asteroid. Jake holds a tablet like device.

CLINT
When you were traveling here, did
you, see anything? When you were
asleep I mean. In the duat.

JAKE
uh yeah, sure, just y'know, normal
dream stuff, but longer I guess.
Though to be fair I don't normally
sleep for 6 months, so I guess it
makes sense it felt longer. You?

CLINT
(ignoring the
question)
Do you know what duat means? Its an
ancient egyption term. They had this
idea that there were different
realities stacked on top of each
other. Parallel universes.

JAKE
(Confused as to why
they're talking
about this)
Ok?

CLINT
well, what do you think of that, the
duat being different realities I
mean.

JAKE
well, its a cool name I guess, but.
You don't believe you actually saw a
different reality do you?

CLINT
(embarrassed)

No! no, I mean, maybe, I don't know,

maybe I want it to be, I guess? I
don't know.

JAKE
What did you see in the duat?

CLINT
I saw, I, it doesn't matter, normal
dream stuff, like you.

JAKE
What did you see?

CLINT
(Sighs)
Her. I saw her, falling. But... not
her, it was... nobody... its hard to
explain

JAKE
Ok, ok. it was a dream, that's all. A
twisted memory of what happened. a
nightmare.

CLINT
For 6 months.

JAKE
I know...

CLINT
I watched me kill my sister for 6
months

JAKE
You didn't kill her, you watched her
die.

CLINT
Is that better?

JAKE
Yes, its better. Your not a murderer.

CLINT
Not a murderer?

JAKE
Not a murderer.

CLINT
Not a murderer
(Laughs)
Not a murderer

SCENE 6: DEFINE REALITY

Clint and Jake are playing cards. Outside the sun is

setting.

CLINT
I've been thinking...

JAKE
Yeah?

CLINT
And, I want to go back

JAKE
Back? To earth? Why would you want to
Earth?

CLINT
(cutting Jake off)
No, not to earth. I'm never going
back there. To the duat.

JAKE
The duat? No, no. Clint, you've got
to stop it with this.

CLINT
Why?

JAKE
Because she's dead. She's dead, and
you can't bring her back.

CLINT
Not here, not here I can't. But in
there, I...

JAKE
In there nothings real! Its not real!
Its an illusion.

CLINT
You don't understand. it doesn't
matter!

JAKE
Of course it matters!

CLINT
(Pointing at his head)
Its real in here,
(Pointing at his
heart)
And in here. And that's all I care
about.

Jake slams his cards on the table in frustration, and walks

towards the door. As he reaches it, he stops.

JAKE
You ran halfway across the solar
system to escape yourself. that
didn't work, so what makes you think
that running any further is going to
help.

Jake leaves.

SCENE 7: RAIDED

The transport ship takes off from the platform. on board,

Clint is going into cryogenic sleep. Outside, the ship
floats through an asteroid field. In the foreground, an
asteroid rolls over, and we see a smaller attack ship
waiting, ready to ambush them.

COMM CHATTER
30 clicks south west of Ceres, ETA 2
and 3/4 days

The attack ship turns on, and moves towards the cruiser.

COMM CHATTER (cont'd)

We have visual on unidentified ship,
please state your designation and
business, over.

The attack ship fires a shot at the engines, and they go

out, the ship continues to move forward on it momentum
though.

ATTACK SHIP
DES light cruiser, we have disabled
your engines. Please prepare for
docking and surrender.

COMM CHATTER
This is the captain of DES light
frigate 96706. Please state your
terms of surrender.

Inside the ship, Jake is walking Clint's cryogenic chamber

down a corridor. Outside, the attack ship fires another shot
at the cruiser. It hits the window at the end of the
corridor that Jake is walking down. everything inside is
sucked towards the window as air escapes. The cryogenic
chamber sticks in the frame of the doorway, and Jake just
barely manages to grab on to one of the bars of the
cryogenic chamber.

He starts to slip, and gets sucked out into space, as Clint

watches from inside the chamber, not yet completely asleep.
As he falls asleep, his vision blurs between the image of
Jake floating in space and Emily falling.

EMILY
Clint! Clint!
