Rationale

In philosophy, we are taught to be virtuous through moral education and to achieve it,

adults must play a pivotal role in children’s development. One influential role that adults

can play in children’s lives is that of a role model. You don’t have to be a celebrity or an

influential individual to be a good role model. Chances are if you’re a parent, teacher,

coach, religious leader, manager, or whatsoever, you’re influencing people every day. But

in this time of the pandemic, people experienced so much fear because of the health crisis,

and it is a matter of fact that many of us lose focus on the other aspects of life, especially

on spirituality which is an important component to have a balanced life. Many parents and

families are struggling with how they are going to discipline their children while being

isolated at home and starting to adopt a new habit which makes the young ones nowadays

less creative and interactive.

Many people do not get to do their usual spiritual activities because of this pandemic

which is why sometimes they experience spiritual dryness. Also, kids do not get to have

their weekly catechism sessions because of the prohibition of face-to-face classes which is

very unfortunate for them. These give us a negative connotation that the pandemic totally

compromised the needs of the people especially the children in various aspects. One of

those aspects is spirituality. As seminarians and Christians, we know how important it is

for our soul to have spiritual nourishment not just our flesh because we already know that

when the time of our death comes, the soul still remains, and it is in our very own hands

whether it is going. This denotes that we must give nourishment and take care of our soul,

by doing this we are not only spiritually vigorous, but it will also give us a positive impact

on our morality. Because our behavior or the way we act is the indicator of how we are

molded with moral virtues in our surrounding environment or if we are even given a

2
glimpse of the light of good morality. It literally shows how we cope up living in the natural

way of life which is supposed to be good, and obviously, it has to be a positive influence

or from a good model in order for us to also adopt a good character. Patterning behaviors

from positive role models do not only help us, people, to build morals and upright judgment

but also positive values which become our avenue to virtue and teach us to set attainable

goals and provide direction in achieving those goals. Most importantly, positive role

models provide insights to children about the right ways of life that they should live

courageously.

That is why, as a seminarian and NSTP-CWTS students, despite the current situation,

we are ought to put into action all of our learnings throughout the NSTP sessions, and as

one of the said role models in this time of the pandemic, we would like to give a simple

catechism class about the person who is a very good example of an ideal role model for all

which is St. Joseph, and our class agreed on the title ”A Catechism on the Virtue of Pure

Service with St. Joseph as Model, to the Junior Highschool Seminarians of the Sacred Heart

Seminary, Brgy. Salvacion Palo, Leyte.” Obviously, this was an online setup through

Google Meet. With the rise of the COVID-19 Virus, such protocols were observed. In line

with this, we the seminarians had reached out to the young people through virtual platforms.

Utilizing such forms was much easier and safer than any other at this present time. There

are 30 Junior Highschool Seminarians who participated in this online activity. As the

Catholic Church and we Christians always celebrate the commemoration of St. Joseph

yearly in the month of March as he took so much part in the Passion, Death, and

Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

3
St. Joseph was there as God decreed it and it is because he abode that divine plan of the

Almighty. He became the spouse of the blessed Mary and took a sheer willingness and

faithfulness to the fulfillment of the birth of the Messiah, our Lord, and our God. He became

the foster father of Jesus and rendered focusing his attention and love with a kin heart while

his child is growing. He shared and lived his life as the head of the holy family. St. Joseph

never abandoned his family because of his firm conviction on fatherhood. Truly, St. Joseph

is the model of “faithfulness and chastity.” The online catechism was indeed beneficial to

our brother seminarians in the Junior Highschool department in the enrichment of their

spirituality and in instilling into their minds the wonders and the virtues that God could

bring to lives.

There were three speakers from our class namely Sem. Argelo Maga, Sem. James Peter

Gopio and Sem. Cristz Lee Rosete. The Catechism started at exactly 9:00 in the morning

and ended at around 11:00 am. It was a half-day activity and the speakers were able to

deliver their prepared topics for the Junior Highschool Seminarians. The first topic was

given by Sem. Cristz Lee Rosete, then followed by Sem. Argelo Maga and then Sem. James

Peter Gopio. Every after the talk was the Open Forum wherein there were some seminarians

who asks clarifications and questions and others even give also their insights about St.

Joseph.

The topics given are the following:

Joseph Most Faithful (By: Sem. Cristz Lee Rosete)

Introduction

Fidelity connotes steadfastness. In the vicissitudes of life, one needs steadfast love, that

is, fidelity when encountering confusion, suffering, and failure. The image of Joseph finding a

place in which the Child could be born was his movement in all of life. Failure simply meant

4
one went on in fidelity and found by failure what God had intended for the fruitfulness of His

will.

Summary of the Topics

St. Joseph: Chaste Spouse of Mary and Adoptive Father of Jesus

St. Joseph is, for me, a spiritual father; a protector and provider; an intimate companion; a

pattern for a life hidden in Christ and cloaked in docility. His divine call by God the Father was

a great and mysterious grace that cannot be easily reduced to a list of specific qualities; there

would not be enough space to contain them. Such is the generosity of God when He asks

something tremendous of His beloved children. St. Joseph is so special to me that I took his

name for my Carmelite name when I became a Secular Discalced Carmelite.

What is Faithfulness? The fact or quality of being true to one's word or commitments, as

to what one has pledged to do, professes to believe, etc.

Faithfulness is one of the defining virtues of St. Joseph. The Catechism of the Catholic

Church helps to define faith in paragraph 143 stating, “ By faith, man completely submits his

intellect and his will to God. With his whole being, man gives his assent to God the revealer.

Sacred Scripture calls this human response to God, the author of revelation, "the obedience of

faith.”

St. Joseph exemplified this definition of faith. To begin, St. Joseph is described as "a just

man" in Matthew's gospel. Other translations of the text state that he was "faithful to the law."

As stated in the Catechism, St. Joseph submitted his intellect and will to God. During this

Christmas season, we have been able to witness St. Joseph's faithfulness in action through the

gospel stories that have been read.

St. Joseph does not say a word, but his actions speak of this deep faith. He showed this

faithfulness to the Lord when he was instructed by an angel in the dream of taking Mary as his

wife, and when he was asked to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt, he said a word. Respond to faith

5
by doing so without saying. Therefore, thanks to his loyalty, he is given to us as an exemplary

husband, father, and guardian.

St. Joseph: A Man of Faith Followed His Dreams

Saint Joseph is introduced quickly in Matthew’s Gospel, and he disappears by the time of

Jesus’ public ministry. His story is slender in detail but immensely meaningful for salvation

history. Four brief dreams are the lynchpins of Joseph’s story. In their starkness, the dreams

mirror age-old archetypal stories of our human journey. A person goes forth in life, endures

trials, wins the prize, and returns home with greater maturity.

St. Joseph loved God

St. Joseph showed his love for God in how he obeyed God and in how he took care of Jesus

and Mary. He obeyed God’s instructions right away more than once to care for Jesus and Mary.

He did not grumble or complain but loved God and obeyed Him.

When Jesus was missing in Jerusalem, St. Joseph and Mary searched for three days for

Him. They did not give up. They knew their responsibility to God and to the Christ child and

they searched until they found Him. Then, they brought Him back home with them. They were

not going to do anything against what God had asked them to do.

St. Joseph served God

In his life, St. Joseph served God by doing what God asked him to do. He protected and

cared for his family, the family God gave to him to love and care for. St. Joseph. In serving

Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph served God, too. His love for and devotion to

his family were due to his love for them and his love for God.

St. Joseph trusted God

When St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary were betrothed, Mary “was found with child

through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1:18) Joseph planned to divorce her quietly

6
so she would not face the consequences of the law that a woman faced when found to be with

a child out of wedlock.

Before he could divorce her, though, “the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream and said

to him: “Joseph, son of David, have no fear about taking Mary as your wife. It is by the Holy

Spirit that she has conceived this child. She is to have a son and you are to name him Jesus

because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1: 20-21)

In the morning Joseph did exactly what the angel instructed him to do. He did not wait a

week or ask God to reconsider. St. Joseph trusted in God, in God’s word, and in God’s

promises. He followed God with trust not knowing what the future would hold.

St. Joseph was obedient to God

Joseph was obedient to God. Not only was he obedient to God, but he was obedient all of

the time: when things seemed difficult (like when Mary was found with child before they were

married), when it was the middle of the night (when the Holy Family fled to Egypt) and when

things perhaps did not make sense (Jesus missing when they were on their way home from

Jerusalem).

Not only was St. Joseph obedient to God, but he showed right away obedience. For

example, when “the angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph with the

command: “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt. . .. Joseph got up and took

the child and his mother and left that night for Egypt.” (Parts of Matthew 1:13 and 14)

St. Joseph took his family and fled to Egypt right away. He did not tell the angel that it was

the middle of the night, that he was tired and would leave in the morning. He did not ask a

bunch of questions or ask for clarification. He got up, gathered his family, and left. He obeyed

right away, just as he did when he took Mary as his wife the morning after the angel of the

Lord told him to do so. St. Joseph obeyed God without delay.

7
St. Joseph’s obedience to God is a great example to us. He did not ask for proof or

clarification; he did not delay doing what God told him to do. He trusted in God’s instructions

and obeyed Him. His desire to follow God and obey Him, I think, comes from a deep faith and

trust in God.

Let us love Jesus above all, let us love Mary as our mother; but then, how could we keep

from loving Joseph, who was so intimately united to both Jesus and Mary? And how can we

honor him better than by imitating his virtues? Now, what else did he do in all his life but

contemplate, study, and adore Jesus, even in the midst of his daily labors? Behold, therefore,

our model.”

“St. Joseph listens to God's directions for him, as spoken through the angel, and carries

them out. St. Joseph is a man who listens to God and acts quickly. ... St. Joseph exemplifies

the family's vocation to holiness. Serving God and then serving one another in the family are

two components of a healthy Christian family. ... To be holy is the vocation of every member

of the family.

"To serve God and each other with love and devotion."

–St. Madeleine Sophie Barat

Joseph Most Obedient and Head of Holy Family (By Sem. Argelo Dominic Maga)

All authority is borrowed except for the Author himself. One can only be a just head of

a family, be it natural or religious, if one is first obedient to the Word himself. Joseph’s perfect

obedience rendered him the perfect Head of the Holy Family.

Summary of the Topic:

8
Introduction:

Who is St. Joseph? First appearing in the gospels of Matthew and Luke, Saint Joseph

was the earthly father of Jesus Christ and the husband of the Virgin Mary.

St. Joseph, most obedient. God chose Joseph to be the earthly father of Jesus. The Bible

tells us in the Gospel of Matthew, that Joseph was a righteous man. His actions toward Mary,

his fiancé, revealed that he was a kind and sensitive man. When Mary told Joseph she was

pregnant, he had every right to feel disgraced. He knew the child was not his own, and Mary's

apparent unfaithfulness carried a grave social stigma. Joseph not only had the right to divorce

Mary but under Jewish law, she could be put to death by stoning.

Although Joseph's initial reaction was to break the engagement, the appropriate thing

for a righteous man to do, he treated Mary with extreme kindness. He did not want to cause her

further shame, so he decided to act quietly. But God sent an angel to Joseph to verify Mary's

story and reassure him that his marriage to her was God's will. Joseph willingly obeyed God,

despite the public humiliation he would face. Perhaps this noble quality made him God's choice

for the Messiah's earthly father.

Joseph's Accomplishments

Joseph was the earthly father of Jesus, the man entrusted to raise the Son of God. Joseph

was also a carpenter or skilled craftsman. He obeyed God in the face of severe humiliation. He

did the right thing before God, in the right manner.

Strengths

Joseph was a man of strong conviction who lived out his beliefs in his actions. He was

described in the Bible as a righteous man. Even when personally wronged, he had the quality

of being sensitive to someone else's shame. He responded to God in obedience and he practiced

self-control. Joseph is a wonderful biblical example of integrity and godly character.

9
Life Lessons

God honored Joseph's integrity by entrusting him with great responsibility. It is not

easy to entrust your children to someone else. Imagine God looking down to choose a

man to raise his son? Joseph had God's trust. Mercy always triumphs. Joseph could

have acted severely toward Mary's apparent indiscretion, but he chose to offer love and

mercy, even when he thought he had been wronged. Walking in obedience to God may

result in humiliation and disgrace before men. When we obey God, even in the face of

adversity and public shame, he leads and guides us.

Key Verses

Matthew 1:19-20 Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want

to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had

considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of

David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is

from the Holy Spirit. (NIV)

Luke2:39-40 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the

Lord, they returned to Galilee to their town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong;

he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. (NIV)

10
Key Takeaways

• Besides feeding and clothing Jesus from his birth, Joseph sent him to Nazareth's

synagogue school, where Jesus learned to read and was taught the Scriptures. This care

helped prepare Jesus for his earthly ministry.

• As a physically strong man, Joseph was able to make the arduous journey from

Palestine to Egypt, sparing Jesus from death by Herod's soldiers. While there, Joseph

probably used his carpentry skills to support his family.

• Without question, Joseph's leading quality was his righteousness. He trusted God and

in turn, God trusted him with His precious Son. Joseph did not always know all the

details, but he acted in faith knowing God would lead him to the next step.

St. Joseph Head of the Holy Family

Joseph is often the forgotten member of the Holy Family.

Remember that Mary and Joseph are a couple. While honoring the perpetual virginity

of Mary, we cannot overlook Joseph's privilege and happiness of being Mary's husband

Since Joseph was husband of Mary, he was also father to Jesus. We know that he was

not the physical father of Jesus. But in his gospel account about Jesus being lost in the temple

Luke has Mary saying to Jesus: “Son, your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow.”

(Lk 2:48) The Mass preface in honor of St. Joseph states: "With fatherly care he watched over

Jesus Christ your Son, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Joseph played a very important role as Jesus "grew in wisdom and age and grace before

God and men." In the Jewish tradition children were, until the age of five or so, in the special

care and tutelage of their mothers. But beyond that age children came under the special

guidance of their fathers. Joseph by duty and privilege was the rabbi of the Holy Family to

11
teach Jesus the Jewish faith and practices. Joseph led his family in the worship of God in their

home at Nazareth. At meal times both Mary and Jesus looked to Joseph at the head of the table

to offer the prayer of blessing. Each year when the great evening of the Passover was

celebrated, the youngster Jesus played his role and addressed the ritual question to Joseph:

Father, why is this night different from every other night? Then he listened with Mary to

Joseph's narration of the glorious events of the Exodus and explanation of the meaning of the

paschal lamb. Later Jesus would hear John the Baptist proclaim him, the Son of Joseph and

Mary, the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world.

When Jesus was of age, Joseph introduced him to synagogue worship. Jesus was

faithful to the synagogue rituals throughout his life. Joseph also taught Jesus the work skills of

a carpenter. Through the practice of this trade, Jesus supported himself and his mother after

Joseph's death. Jesus' human experience of fatherhood was drawn from his relationship with

Joseph. When Jesus said, "What father would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf, or

a poisonous snake when he asks for a fish," surely, he had in mind how kind and gentle Joseph

was to him as he was growing. When Jesus told the parable of the prodigal son, Joseph may

have been the model of that loving father. As Jesus described how the father hugged and kissed

the son who had been lost, perhaps he was recalling how Joseph hugged and kissed him after

he had been lost in the temple for three days. In Catholic tradition a number of laudatory titles

have been accorded St. Joseph. He is patron of workers, patron of families, patron of the dying,

and patron of the Universal Church. These are the more important in the list.

However only two days are dedicated to him in the liturgical calendar: the solemnity on

March 19 (which always occurs in Lent and is never observed on a Sunday) and the memorial

of Joseph the Worker on May 1. While part of the Holy Family feast. on the Sunday after

Christmas, he is largely overshadowed by Jesus and Mary.

12
St. Joseph Model of Workers (By: Sem. James Peter Gopio)

We must not simply intend love; we must labor to fulfill love’s demands. Beneficence,

laboring for the good of another, in Joseph’s case was direct labor for God. Working in Adam’s

curse by the sweat of his brow was replete with purpose as it was all done to feed, to clothe, to

shelter God Himself.

Summary of the Topic

Who is St. Joseph? Joseph the Worker May 1), in the New Testament, Jesus’ earthly

father, and the Virgin Mary’s husband. St. Joseph is the patron of the universal church

in Roman Catholicism, and his life is recorded in the Gospels, particularly Matthew and Luke.

Joseph was a descendant of the house of King David. St. Joseph was the foster father of

Jesus, the spouse of the Virgin Mary, and he has been proclaimed the Patron of the Universal

Church. As patrons and protectors of the Church, we as Catholics should look to him as a role

model of virtue, holiness, and trust in the plans of God.

What is work? “Work is a means of participating in the work of salvation, an opportunity

to hasten the coming of the Kingdom, to develop our talents and abilities, and to put them at

the service of society and fraternal communion. It becomes an opportunity for the fulfillment

not only of oneself but also of that primary cell of society which is the family. A family without

work is particularly vulnerable to difficulties, tensions, estrangement, and even break-up. How

can we speak of human dignity without working to ensure that everyone is able to earn a decent

living?

“Working persons, whatever their job may be, are cooperating with God Himself, and in

some way become creators of the world around us. The crisis of our time, which is economic,

social, cultural, and spiritual, can serve as a summons for all of us to rediscover the value, the

13
importance, and necessity of work for bringing about a new ‘normal’ from which no one is

excluded.

How does Saint Joseph serve as a role model for all workers? Work comes in many

forms—some paid and some for which we are not; however, all work is extremely valuable.

Joseph’s job during his life was twofold, to provide for his family as a carpenter and to work

alongside Mary in bringing up Jesus. From one, there is rest, at least on the Sabbath; however,

any weary parent of a newborn, toddler, rebellious teen or even a young adult can attest little

rest comes in parenting. Yet, both are incredibly rewarding and necessary in this world.

Joseph worked hard at both crafts. A glimpse, is revealed in his tireless search, along with

Mary when Jesus is lost after departing Jerusalem as a twelve-year-old boy. Found in his

father’s house, a hint of Jesus’ work to come. Why include parenting in the reflection on Saint

Joseph, Patron of Workers? Perhaps, a desire to assure no reader is neglected in the reflection

but more so to remind us all the work we do, regardless of the size of a paycheck, matters.

The unemployed, underemployed, and those who choose to forego paid work to care for

family likewise fall within the patronage of St. Joseph, patron and model of workers. Joseph,

we know from his and Mary’s offering of turtledoves at the presentation of Jesus, was not a

man of means. Yet can we recall a more blessed man (besides Jesus himself) in history? Joseph

sees every family and whatever circumstances this world has given, taken, or presented, and

he cares, bringing their intentions to El Roi—” the God who sees me.”

Like each of us, Joseph worried, doubted, and planned; however, what he did so well, which

we can learn and imitate, is how he prayed, trusted, and surrendered to the will of God. He

knew the Psalms, the Covenants, and promises of his God—our God, and he chose not only to

believe but allow them to order his life. St. Joseph was grateful when God revealed the plan

but didn’t require that in order to move in faith. He worked hard, did what he could, and

entrusted in the love and providence of the Lord to do the rest.

14
Work comes in many forms; it is not only part of our career or family life but also part of

our spiritual journey. St. Joseph was prepared for his role in salvation history because he put

his work of growing close to God first before all other responsibilities. Saint Joseph, patron of

workers, in all the ways we work, pray for us.

What can we learn from the life of St. Joseph? “Saint Joseph’s work reminds us that

God Himself, in becoming man, did not disdain work. The loss of employment that affects so

many of our brothers and sisters and has increased as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,

should serve as a summons to review our priorities.

“Let us implore Saint Joseph the Worker to help us find ways to express our firm conviction

that no young person, no person at all, no family should be without work!”

Let us entrust our daily work to the protection of St Joseph and pray for those who have lost

their jobs during the pandemic.

The theme, St. Joseph Model of Pure Service, was indeed a very reminder for us

seminarians who in the future would offer our whole life in the service of the Church. St. Joseph

reminds us of a very important lesson in life, faith must always be accompanied by works, and

action speaks louder than words. The whole Catechism was very informative a really a success.

With the active participation of the Junior Highschool Seminarians and also with the guidance

of our Rector Rev. Fr. Manuel P. Baybay, Jr. and our Prefect Rev. Fr. Elmer D. Macabare the

event becomes a meaningful yet an enlightening one not just for our brothers but also to us

students of NSTP-CWTS. The event ended with a smile on every seminarian’s beautiful face

even though it was done virtually but the presence was felt heartfully by all of us present in the

event. May the Most Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, pray for all of us and intercede

for us as we continue our seminary journey answering God’s call towards Priesthood. To God

be always the glory!

Methodology

As the Church Celebrates the Easter Season, we commemorate the Passion, Death, and

Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ for the hope and salvation of the entire human race. We

might forget a very important person behind this plan of God the Father, the person being

tasked to be the foster-father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one who took care, protected, and

nurtured the Holy Family, and that man is Saint Joseph.

In today’s reality, many relationships and bonds between person to person are being

broken because there are times when where we tend to think of our selfish desires, and wrong

ideology, and we are being driven by our pride and impatience. We keep on complaining about

many things because we lose the sense of sacrifice, we always seek what is easy and

comfortable for our own. If we look into the life of Saint Joseph, we could be able to reflect in

our own lives on the way Saint Joseph lived his life on earth. It might be a difficult and a hard

path to follow such righteous acts, and live a virtuous life like St. Joseph, especially in this

present time since many of us are being caged away from reality. We find ourselves being

enslaved by our worldly affections and desires leaving away our spiritual life behind. If we

make Saint Joseph our own model, we could have a change in life, a lesson that we should

always put in mind which could create a huge impact not just for ourselves but for others also.

Because of the tough situation brought by this pandemic, many people turned back to

God and seek for His protection against this deadly disease, but there are also people who do

not care anymore or tend to forget about God because they are already occupied by many

worldly desires that bring happiness to them. Some families are separated from each other

because of various reasons, there are also those people who are addicted to their mobile phones

and gadgets, browsing the internet and various social media platforms, games, and many more.

Those things contribute to the reason why there are people who grew away from God,

19
forgetting to live a life of virtues, forgetting about their own spirituality, and making them more

vulnerable to sins. Hence, the seminarians of the Sacred Heart Seminary who are at the same

time, students of NSTP-CWTS from the Holy Infant College are determined to conduct a

catechism on the virtue of pure service with St. Joseph as a model, that is given to the Junior

High School seminarians of Sacred Heart Seminary.

The seminarians conducted this catechism online since the preferred audience which is

the Junior High School seminarians are not yet having the face-to-face classes. The platform

of this online catechism was the Google Meet. This activity was conducted on April 23, 2022.

Rector
Sacred Heart Seminary
Brgy. Salvacion, Palo, Leyte

Greetings in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,

St. Joseph is an extraordinary figure, not because of any astonishing charism or special status,
but because he accomplished extraordinary acts of service in his daily life. Joseph was obedient
in Silence/simplicity. A man of prayer. A faithful husband. A loving father. A friend who
helped others. As the saying goes - Joseph was a man after God’s own heart - who can help us
by his example to be the same - people after God’s own heart. We wish to make St. Joseph a
model for seminarians who are discerning for the priesthood.

Regarding this, we, the AB PHILOSOPHY 1 seminarians and as NSTP- CWTS students will
be conducting an online catechism to the Junior Highschool Seminarians of the Sacred Heart
Seminary this coming March 29-30, 2022. This will serve as our immersion activity for the
said course.

We are hoping for your kindness and your positive response. May God bless you in your
endeavors!

Respectfully yours in Christ,

Sem. Keifer Alburo

Dean of Students, Junior Highschool Department
Sacred Heart Seminary
Palo, Leyte

Dear Fr. Brylle,

Greetings in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus!

We are the AB Philosophy 1 seminarians. As the dean of students for the Junior Highschool
Department, we are reaching out to invite the Junior Highschool seminarians of the Sacred
Heart Seminary on an online catechism this April 9, 2022.

Our online catechism would be about St. Joseph. St. Joseph is an extraordinary figure, not
because of any astonishing charism or special status, but because he accomplished
extraordinary acts of service in his daily life. Joseph was obedient in Silence/simplicity. A man
of prayer. A faithful husband. A loving father. A friend who helped others. As the saying goes
- Joseph was a man after God’s own heart - who can help us by his example to be the same -
people after God’s own heart. In this light, we wish to make St. Joseph a model for seminarians
who are discerning about the priesthood.

Respectfully yours in Christ,

Sem. Keifer Alburo
