With the implementation of the Research Agenda, DepEd employees, from teachers to

administrators, are encouraged to conduct action research. Based on Division Unnumbered

Memorandum No. 23, s. 2021 released last January 13, 2021 and Unnumbered Memorandum

No. 119, s. 2021 released last March 1, 2021, there were six (6) completed action researches

conducted in Antipolo National High School. Out of six completed action researches, only one

action research came from MAPEH Department. During the previous years, MAPEH teachers

have exhibited less participation and less interest in conducting research due to lack of

knowledge in action research. Moreover, MAPEH teachers found difficulty in initiating and

writing an action research.

This research was conducted to identify the capacity level of MAPEH teachers in doing

action research and determine the factors that hinder MAPEH teachers in doing action

research. Using descriptive method of research, data were collected among 46 MAPEH

teachers Using Google form as the main data gathering instrument. Results revealed that (1)

the average Weighted Mean of 3.04 shows that the level of MAPEH teachers’ in conducting

action research is of Moderate level; (2) 29 out of 46 (63.04%) of the respondents stated that

they lack knowledge to conduct action research and experienced writing anxiety. While 25 or

54.35 % of the MAPEH teachers could not conduct action research because of workload, lack

of motivation, lack of support, and lack of interest; (3) Since this study showed that MAPEH

teachers are moderately capable in conducting action research, an action research training

program is proposed. An appropriate LAC session, mentoring, and coaching can also be

done to assist the teachers and help them improve their research capability level.
