GRADE: X RESEARCH-BASED PROJECT FOR SOCIAL SCIENCE


SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

This project is compulsory for all students, as this will be considered for
internal assessment.
It’s an individual project.
The rough draft must be submitted by Monday 24th Oct.
The Final draft should be submitted within two days of editing.
Read all the instructions carefully before you start doing your research.
There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) defined by the
United Nations Organization to tackle the world’s biggest problems by
2030.
Why learn the latest SDG?
The SDGs are universal goals for all people and are inherently
global in nature. Learning about these initiatives helps us develop
insights into critical issues around the world, such as the lack of
access to clean water and gender equality. These issues are
inseparable from culture, and to truly understand the SDGs, we
need to learn about the world around us.
Basic Objectives:
1. improves academic skills
2. Helps a learner’s mental and moral development and motivates
an individual.
3. There’s a positive influence on their ethos and relationship with
the local community.
4. Learning about the wider world helps us understand and develop
critical thinking and analyzing skills.
The Beginning
Step 1. For an introduction to the SDGs, watch The World’s Largest
Lesson, an animated film written by Sir Robinson and introduced by
Malala Yousafzai
Students must take one goal for the research.
Step 2.
Few questions to be answered
The answer to these questions should be in the form of subheadings for
eg,
1. What is sustainable development?
Write sustainable development as a subheading and answer in 6/7 lines.
2. Differentiate between millennium goals and Sustainable Goals.
3. Write about the contributions of agencies/organizations/governments
working towards achieving these goals.
4. What is NITI Aayog? Describe the role of NITI Aayog at the central
government level in India.
Step 3:
Topic-specific research questions
1. Introduce your developmental goal.
2. Describe the targets to be achieved.
3. Add current updates with data, graphical representation and news about your
goal.
4. Who are the people involved with your chosen goal.
5. Write three catchy slogans for campaigning to achieve your goal, to bring
awareness among people.
6. Draw the logo given by UNDP and create your own logo on Sustainable
Developmental Goal.
7. As a student ‘Get involved’ and suggest measures and steps taken to achieve
these goals in your community.

Step 4:
1. Add the images, logo, data, etc. in the rough draft (can be handwritten or a
soft copy), but no copy-paste from the original source should be done.
2. The final writing should be handwritten.
3. It should be well presented, researched, and pictorial.
4. The project must have a Cover page, table of contents, details with images
wherever necessary, and a bibliography.
5. Headings and subheadings are a must.
6. If you are sharing it as a soft copy, it should be shared in the word
document for convenience to edit.
7. The project should not exceed 15 pages.
8. The project should be submitted in a transparent folder (not a stick file, like
the ones you have in the personal files, loose folders)
