1. How important is history to you nowadays and why?
- For me, history is incredibly essential, especially in today's world where young people are so engrossed in technology and social media that they have forgotten what has fashioned us into who we are. Understanding how these factors affect our lives now requires a knowledge of history; the past is the key to the present. We can better grasp the world thanks to history. We can get a clear picture of where we are now because to the rich history of the world. History enables us to comprehend change. It keeps track of accomplishments and aides in understanding setbacks. People can learn about change and how it affects others through these research. It demonstrates prior patterns of behavior or events and their results, which can assist us in preventing identical consequences in the future.
2. Based on your learnings, what significant historical event that has
brought an impact in the field of Philippine History? Cite that event and explain why. - For me, the historical event that has brought an impact in the field of Philippine History is Independence Day because it marks the nation’s independence from the Spanish rule on June 12, 1898. One of the most important turning points in the history of the Filipino people is the formal proclamation of independence for the Philippines. The Filipino people commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of the warriors and heroes who battled for our homeland on this day, which is more than simply a regular holiday. The generations of today and the years to come should be motivated by their fortitude in battle and determination to free the nation from colonizers. These brave deeds need to be honored in the same way that we honor the gift of sovereignty. Not only is it crucial to observe this holiday, but it's also crucial to remember its importance to the Philippines. For our independence, many Filipinos risked their lives and contributed their skills and talents. As citizens of this nation, we should take inspiration from their brave stories.
3. How do you evaluate or critique available sources such as books and
other reading materials in terms of its reliability? - Before selecting whether or not to use information I have discovered in books and other reading materials, I assess sources to ensure its reliability. I assess the sources to make sure they are complete and provide relevant and important information. When I analyze information from any source, the five fundamental criteria that I use are accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage. I keep in mind that the Web is a wide network of unfiltered information sources when reviewing online because anyone can post anything on it. Prior to using and citing information found online, it is crucial that we evaluate it. I start by looking for information about the author to determine whether or not it is trustworthy. In order to be contacted for questions or additional information, I then check to see if the author or website owner has provided an email address or other forms of contact information. In addition, I assess the sources the author cites and confirm that they are current.
4. What is your comment in the contemporary issue regarding
misinformation and disinformation in the history? - Misinformation and disinformation must be combated because they affect our country as a whole, our society, and the world at large, undermine trust, and make the world less informed. The threat of false information in today's environment must be acknowledged. I convinced myself that teaching as many people as possible about media literacy, particularly in our contemporary age, is the best approach to combat false information. Young individuals are especially susceptible to false and misleading information. Young people spend a lot of time online engaging in activities including playing video games, chatting, blogging, listening to music, posting selfies, and looking for new friends to chat with. For their understanding of the world and their perception of reality, they greatly rely on information that is disseminated online. Young people must consequently receive the critical thinking and informational skills from schools that they cannot receive at home.
