Title of the Parents’ Orientation Program

Training Program

Duration Proposed 3 day series

Date & Venue December 13-15, 2021
Mactan Air Base Elementary School Covered Court
Participants & 278 Parents of Grade Six Pupils
Profile
Rationale Wendy S. Grolnick and her colleagues (1997) opined that Parental
involvement affects student achievement because these interactions
affect students’ motivation, their sense of competence, and the belief
that they have control over their success in school.
Hence, when parents are engaged in the education of the
Page
students, it will empower the latter to do well in their studies thus
providing a sense of competence and belief of succeeding.

In a Research entitled Parent Involvement in Education,

Kathleen Cotton, et. Al (1989) stated that parent involvement in
children’s learning is positively related to achievement. Further,
the research showed that the more intensively parents are
involved in their children’s learning, the more beneficial are the
achievement effects. Ergo, Parental support plays a vital role in
the education of the students.

This 3 day information discussion on Parental support in relation

to the education of the students aims to equip parents the necessary
skills and competencies as learning facilitators in the education of the
students in Distance Learning Modality. It also aims to strengthen
parental support as stakeholders of Mactan Air Base Elementary
School as part of the vision of a strong partnership with the primary
stakeholders of the school. It will also be an avenue for the teachers
and parents to communicate with each other regarding the progress
of the students and other matters for the best interest of the
students.

Objectives Terminal At the end of the program, the participants are able to:
Objectives 1. Enhance their knowledge as facilitators of
