Article V: Section 2 - Special Examinations

1. Only students with valid excuses for not taking the examinations on the scheduled dates shall
be allowed to take the completion/special examinations. The following circumstances are
considered valid excuses:

a. Sickness that requires medical attention (must be supported by a medical


certificate);
b. Death of an immediate member of one’s family (“immediate member” refers to mother,
father, brother or sister; spouse and/or children if married);
c. Official business approved by the College Dean; and
d. Other circumstances that may be beyond the control of the student and are found to be
meritorious by the concerned professor or the Dean.

1. Failure to take the regular exams due to carelessness in copying the exam schedule is
not a valid excuse.
2. A student found to have no valid excuses for not taking the examinations as scheduled
shall automatically get a grade of 5.00 in the said examination.
3. Application form for Special Examinations shall be accomplished by the student. The
same shall be properly endorsed by the concerned professor and should be approved
either by the Department Chairperson or the Vice-Dean.
4. Forms 8 (Registrar’s Office Form) and 8.1 (CAS Office Form) must be accomplished
and submitted to the CAS Office on or before the 5th school day after the end of each
reference examination week. A student who fails to submit the same within the
prescribed period, for no valid reasons, shall automatically get a grade of 5.00 in the
said examination. A student who has a valid reason will get an “INC” mark, to be
completed within two (2) weeks or 14 calendar days from the last day of final exams.

A special examination fee of Two Hundred Pesos (P200.00) per subject is charged to
the student concerned.

5. The schedule of the special examination is posted on the CAS Administrative Bulletin
Board on the ground floor of St. Bede’s Hall. It is the responsibility of the concerned
student to verify the schedules of special examinations from the CAS Administration
Office.
6. Students who fail to take the special examinations on the date designated by the CAS
Administration Office shall not be given another special exam and shall be given a
grade of 5.00 in that particular examination.
Article V: Section 4 - Conduct during Examinations

Examinations serve as opportunities to build one’s character, including one’s honesty and
integrity. Just as professors exercise care in preparing examinations, students must also exercise
utmost care in taking examinations. Honesty must be observed so that the examinations will
function as a valid tool for evaluation.

1. Students are required to place all their non-testing materials on the platform.
2. Students are not allowed to use or bring out mobile phones, iPod, MP3/4, PSP, digital
cameras and other electronic gadgets during the examination proper.
3. A student shall not leave the examination room without the permission of the
teacher/proctor and only for meritorious reasons.
4. Disciplinary sanctions for dishonesty during examinations or cheating cases which may
be applied to misbehaving student are as follows:

 Suspension - a penalty for which the College is allowed to deny or deprive students of
privileges like entering the school premises and attendance in classes, for a period to
be determined by the school administration.
 Exclusion - a penalty for which the College is allowed to exclude or drop the name of
the student from the roll and so that transfer credentials can be immediately issued.

5. The following acts constitute dishonesty during examination:

6. Aside from the above penalties, the following additional sanctions are also imposed:

 Any student caught cheating during the midterm and final examinations will be given
an automatic grade of 5.00 in the examination on that particular subject.

7. Any student caught cheating during quizzes will be given a grade of zero (0) in that
particular quiz.
8. All cases of cheating during midterm and final examinations should be referred to the
Office of the Prefect of Student Discipline.

B.1.12 Acts of cheating such as:

a. Dictating answers during oral and written examinations;


b. Mere possession and direct use of cheating materials during quizzes, midterm, and
final examinations;
c. Having someone else take the quizzes, midterm and final examinations;
d. Exchanging examination notebooks/ calculators or passing one’s notebook to
another to enable the latter to copy;
e. Reading or looking deliberately at another student’s examination paper or showing
one’s own paper/notebook to another;
f. Communicating with another during quizzes and examinations regardless of its
topic; and
g. Unauthorized possession of notes, books, calculators, materials including recorders
or any telecommunication devices such as cellular phones, mp4, PSP, ipod, ipad, or
any piece of paper having a bearing on the subject of the examination.
Maximum Sanction: Disciplinary Probation for one semester and non-enrolment
for the succeeding semester

B. Grooming and Appearance


All students of San Beda University must observe and maintain proper grooming and appearance
to adhere to the conventions of simplicity, decency, and professionalism.

B.1 Ladies
B.1.1 Hair must be well groomed. Shades of brown to black are allowed.
B.1.2 Make-up is allowed only if modestly applied, without any outrageous color of lipstick,
rouge, or eye shadow.

B.2 Gentlemen
B.2.1 Hair must be well groomed. Shades of brown to black are allowed.
B.2.2 Sporting a moustache, beard or goatee is allowed as long as it is well groomed.
C. Proper Attire
Students must wear their ID at all times except during HKD Classes. Students must also wear the
complete prescribed uniform. Students who do not have classes on a particular day may come to
school in proper civilian attire (Refer to C.4 of this section) provided that they will present their
Registration Form, which shows their schedule. Modest accessories or jewelry may be worn.
Students who do not wear the prescribed school uniform/attire and observe proper grooming
shall be penalized as stipulated in Section III of this Article.

C.1 Prescribed Uniform


C.1.1 To standardize the design and color of the uniforms, the Office of the Prefect of Student
Discipline provides accredited tailors/dressmakers.
C.1.2 The pants must be properly fit.
C.1.3 The vest and prescribed necktie must always be worn inside the school premises.
C.1.4 White polo with sleeves of mid-upper arm length is the prescribed outfit. The shirt should
be tucked in and the sleeves should not be folded.
C.1.5 NSTP and HKD uniforms are to be worn during these classes only.

C.2 Ladies
C.2.1 Black closed shoes are the prescribed footwear.
C.2.2 The length of the skirt must be knee-level or two-inches above the knees.
C.2.3 The color of the vest must be red.
C.2.4 The color of the pants/skirt must be charcoal gray.

C.3 Gentlemen
C.3.1 Shoes must be closed, black leather, leatherette, suede type, and work with black trouser
socks/dress socks.
C.3.2 The color of the vest must be gray.
C.3.3 The color of the pants must be charcoal gray.
C.4 Prescribed Attire on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Activity Days, No Class Days, and Summer
Classes

C.5 Prohibitions
C.5.1 Sandos, shorts, cycling shorts, mutilated pants, torn shirts and slippers
C.5.2 Upper garments with foul words or offensive images/statements
C.5.3 Feminine apparel, loud cosmetics or exaggerated accessories among male students
C.5.4 Hipsters, plunging necklines, backless, hanging blouse, halter tops, see-through blouses,
micro-mini skirts, spaghetti straps, and tube blouse among female students
C.5.5 Any pierced jewelry like earrings (for male), nose ring, tongue-ring, brow-ring for male and
female students
C.5.6 Shades and caps worn along corridors, inside the classrooms, offices, and at the Abbey
Church
C.5.7 Students are not allowed to change from uniforms into civilian/casual attire while inside
the campus during school uniform days
C.5.8 Attires other than the school uniform for class presentations/activities are allowed only
during the class period activities.
C.5.9 Canvas Shoes during uniform days

C.6 Wearing of Official Identification Card


A yearly official ID card with the official ID lace is issued to every student after enrolment.
C.6.1 The ID should be worn at all times inside the campus except during HKD classes.
C.6.2 it must be presented to any school official or personnel in authority when demanded.
