Distancing yourself from the public is one of the best ways to avoid getting infected with communicable
diseases, like COVID-19.
The pandemic has caused an immune system lockdown, making it more difficult for people to fight off
viruses and bacteria. This means that you're more likely to pass on a disease if you're around others who
have it.
The best way to protect yourself from communicable diseases is to stay home until the pandemic ends.
If you can't do that, try these tips:
* Wash your hands frequently with soap and water (and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if needed)
* Wear masks when gardening or in other areas where insect bites are common. In order to prevent
and minimize the spread of communicable diseases, it is imperative that we understand how the
immune system works and what can be done to "lock down" it. The pandemic has highlighted just how
vulnerable our bodies are when a virus hits us. We know that there are many things we can do in order
to prevent infection, but it's also important to be mindful of our surroundings at all times and ensure
that we are not exposing ourselves unnecessarily.
