POWERS OF THE PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT

The Philippine president is granted specific powers by the Constitution. The following are some of his or
her powers:

1. Control over all executive departments, bureaus, and offices


2. Power of general supervision over local governments and autonomous regions
3. Power to nominate, appoint and remove officials
4. Budget and Fiscal power
5. Military power (/him or her being the commander in chief of the Armed Forces of the
Philippines)
6. Power to contract of guarantee foreign loans on behalf of the country
7. Pardoning power
8. Power to check other branches of the government
