1. How is morality developed according to Lawrence Kholberg?

(10)

According to Lawrence Kholberg, Morality is developed in 3 Levels: Pre-Conventional, Conventional, and

Post-Conventional. In Stage one, The Pre-Conventional Stage, We make moral judgments based on
Obedience and Punishment. We Obey Those people who are superior than us, Which could be our parents
or any adults, to avoid Punishment. We Obey the people who are superior than us because it would means
they would give us some sort of reward. We would ask ourselves “What is In it for me?” or “What will I
get?”. Thus, We based our morality on the punishment we might get if we didn’t obey and if we obey, we
based our morality on what reward we would get. In Stage two, The Conventional Stage, We make moral
judgement based on the standards, ideas, ethics, and norms of other people or peers. We Conform to those
standards, ideas, ethics, and norms so we would be the Good Girls/Boys. Deviating from those would make
you the Bad guy and Unlikeable. In this Stage, We also Follow the rules set by those people who have the
authority to so. We follow the rules to maintain social order. In Stage Three, The Post-Conventional stage,
We understand Rules as just a Social Construct rather than a Reasonable one. We are starting to question
Rules whether they are Reasonable or not. We are also starting to question whether is it still acceptable for
someone to not follow the rules for a good reason. In this Stage, We are starting to consider someone’s
Position before making a judgment. We Use justice as moral Reasoning. We based our morals on what is
fair and what is not.

2. What is the difference between morality and ethics? (10)

Both Morality and Ethics talk about what is wrong and what is right and what is unacceptable and
acceptable. Morality is principle of every individual influenced by an internal source (Conscience and
Reasoning) While Ethics is a principle of every individual Influenced by an external source(Code of
Conducts, Laws, Regulation, Personal Boundary and Principle). We based our morality as to what we see is
right or wrong. We based our Ethics as to what we need to Uphold and Follow. In Order for us to be Ethical,
we must hold a Strong, Clear, and Reasonable Morality. And In order for us to be Moral, We must be
ethical.
