Planning Ethical Interventions

Ethical interventions practice aims to solve ethical conflicts, clarify them and making necessary

analysis. Youths are at risk of being exposed to social problems, which adversely affect their life.

Among the social problems that our youth face today include cyber bullying, poverty, drug

abuse, violence at schools just to mention a few. Drug abuse is one of the major social issues

faced by our children nowadays. Misuse of drugs has a negative influence to our society’s norms

and traditions hence qualify to be one of the major areas of concern. Desired outcomes that

would arise when addressing the issue is the reduction of the harm associated the substance use.

Interventions for Drug Abuse

Youths faced by drug addictions can be assisted to reduce the consumption of the substance.

Some of these intervention options include giving the addicted and the ones at the risk good

guidance and counselling. Educational campaigns have been targeted toward substance using

individuals, availing necessary information and guidance on risks associated with drug abuse.

Moreover, the campaigns target the overall public to have a general understanding about drug

addiction (Karch, 2019). The importance of Public awareness on substance impacts should be

put into consideration.

Development of strategies to reduce harm with substance use is another intervention option.

People are engaged in treatments to reduce substance use risks among those actively use drugs.

Individuals are encouraged to seek medication to manage their drug use when appropriate. Some

drug addicts share syringes, which is very dangerous to their heath. Transmission of harmful

diseases can be spread due to use of these items. Health programs are then designed to help

reduce these harms through the appropriate strategies.

Ethical Intervention Plan

Intervention involves a member or a specialist who care about the person struggling with drug

addiction. During intervention, specialists gather to confront the addicted person and give the

way forward. The intervention usually includes;

Making a plan to organize an effective meeting with the youth. Consultation of qualified

professional counsellor is a psychologist is essential at this stage. Intervention is a very sensitive

process, which might cause resentment, betrayal, and at times cause anger thus requires proper

planning.

Secondly, necessary information ought to be gathered to test the extend of the impact of the

problem. The stage also involves doing some research on the condition and treatment programs.

The planning group would then form group of specialist who would participate in the

intervention program. Members of the team pose a discussion aimed at solving the problem. A

structured plan should be laid down and a clear presentation made.

Lastly, an intervention meeting with the affected person should be held in well-defined

place .Specialists members would then take turns to express their concerns and their feelings on

the matter at hand. Proper guidance and counselling is offered at this stage. Negative

consequences of the drug abuse should be clearly tabled at this stage. Creating awareness on the

dangers of the substance use helps reduce the harm.

Ethical Issue Analysis

Drug abuse is one of the main ethical issues discussed in this paper. Misuse of drugs

creates a conflict in our society because they tend to act against society’s moral principles.

Addicts could indulge into malpractices such as theft, prostitution that is a big threat to the

society. Depression caused by misuse of drugs amongst our youth can expose them to impulsive
suicidal behavior (Zhou et al, 2016). Youths are the future leaders of the society and the future

generations.

Drug abuse is a major threat to our future generation today. Predominance of the misuse

has harmful impacts ranging from health to social issues. Parents should pay greater attention to

their teens activities to prevent them falling into this traps. Creation of drug abuse awareness on

its harmful effects could be a preventive measure. Drugs should not be tolerated in our societies.
