Learning a second language at an early age

Learning a second language at an early age isn’t as bad as some people may say it is. I, for
example have started learning a second language from the age of 6, if I am not mistaken, and I
believe I am doing well so far.

Learning a second language helps a lot. Not only does it expand your horizons job-wise, it also
helps a lot if you like travelling. For example, imagine that you’re in Turkey and you’re from
Japan. People are not going to understand your main language, assuming that it is Japanese,
but if you also knew English, people there would definitely understand you better.

In my honest opinion, the best age to start learning is between 5 and 7. At the age of 5 you sort
of know your primary language pretty well, and learning a new one would only be better
because you’re going to learn both your primary and secondary language at about the same
pace, and you’re also going to know your alternative language a lot better.

The advantages of knowing a secondary language are a lot. Depending on the language you’ve
chosen, you’re going to have more or less options, but either way it is just going to benefit you.
For example, people that know Japanese are the most searched for in a call center, and they
also get paid more that people that can just speak English.

To conclude, learning a new language at a fragile age is just going to benefit you if done right,
so parents, ask your kids and let them try, it is really going to be of good use.
