SENTENCE STRESS
The primary stress in content words ( nouns, verbs, adjectives
and adverbs) come together to make a statement sound like
musical rhythm, known as SENTENCE STRESS. Practice saying the
following sentence with stress-timed rhythm.
• GRAMMAR
• THE PASSIVE VOICE
• To emphasize something done rather than someone doing it.
• BE + PAST PARTICIPLE

• BE IN THE 12 TENSES ( Present / Past / Future )


Ex. A new bridge is being built over the river.

• MODAL + BE ( CAN/ COULD / MAY / MIGHT / MUST BE …)


Ex. Endangered species must be protected by law.

Simple present: AM / IS / ARE + PP
Simple past: WAS / WERE + PP
Simple future: WILL BE + PP
Present progressive: AM / IS / ARE BEING + PP
Past progressive: WAS / WERE BEING + PP
Future progressive: WILL BE BEING + PP
Present perfect: HAS / HAVE BEEN + PP
Past Perfect: HAD BEEN + PP

Study the examples of the passive voice in the 12 tenses
1. Classrooms are cleaned twice a week.
2. The classrooms are being disinfected at the moment.
3. All the test papers were marked last week.
4. At this time yesterday the test papers were being marked by a scanner.
5. More lesson plans will be posted onto the Internet.
6. This time next week the classroom block will be being repainted.
7. The new syllabus for English has been approved.
8. The national curriculum has been being revised for months.
9. By this time yesterday the preparation for the national exam had not been
completed yet.
10. By 11.00 pm. Last night, test papers had been being marked for 10 hours nonstop.
11. By 2 pm. Tomorrow, I expect, all the exam papers will have been marked.
12. It will take long. By the end of the year the groundwork will have been being done
for 6 months. And it will take much longer.
