Mom and Grandma’s Roll Recipe

Ingredients:
• 2 packages fast rising dry yeast
• 1 can evaporated milk ( 2/3 cup)
• 1 stick of margarine or butter
• 2/3 cup sugar
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 3 eggs
• 5 – 7 cups of all purpose flour

Heat evaporated milk, margarine (or butter), and sugar to scalding

• Cool this to room temperature!!!!

1. Stir in 2 of the eggs and 1 cup of the flour.

2. At this time put 2 packages of yeast in 1/3 cup water. Water


temp should be 108 F. Watch for yeast to double in size to
approximately ¾ cup

3. Add yeast to cooled evaporated milk, margarine, sugar, egg and


flour mixture. Add last egg. Add remaining flour a little at a
time until dough is not sticky any longer.

4. Knead for 8 minutes

5. Let dough raise for 3 hours in cloth covered bowl placed in


warm oven

Pound dough down after 3 hours and divide into 3 sections. After rolling a
section flat, brush with melted margarine (or butter), cut into triangles, roll,
place on coated cooking sheet, brush again with margarine (or butter), and
let rise for 1 hour

Bake at 400° for 8 – 10 minutes Makes 3 dozen
