The Teeth break food into smaller pieces and salivary glands located in the mouth create saliva

which
makes the food moist. In the intestine proteins carbohydrates and fats are broken down, respectively,
into: amino acids, sugars and fatty acids. The food gets swallowed and travels down the esophagus into
the stomach. In the stomach are hydrochloric acid and pepsinogen and other acids which begin to digest
the food. Bile and other acids enter into the small intestine to help with digestion as the broken-down
food travels through the small intestine and large intestine.
