WHAT PHILIPPINE COMPANIES NEED

TO DO TO CLOSE GENDER GAP

According to the 2016 Global Gender Gap report by the World Economic Forum,
the Philippines is the number 1 in gender equality in Asia, and 7th in the world but these
statistics are not that accurate. The movement of the leaders and the participants is that
they want us women to change the way we think about ourselves. According to Risa
Hontiveros “Our biggest enemies are our brains” that we should not doubt ourselves, we
must not tell ourselves that we are not ready, instead think that you can do it and it is
your opportunity to improve.
The main issue or the problem of this article is the gender gap in a company
between men and women in the Philippines. It concerns what action that they need to
do to achieve gender equality in a workplace. The results or the outcome of this
movement is that almost all companies or businesses are now owned by women and
some women have higher positions than men.
My opinion on this issue is that we should be equal in all things and in any place.
Women also can do what men do and we are not weak as they think. We are now in a
new generation. We should stop that kind of thinking and we should stop downgrading
women. Risa Hontiveros is right that we women should trust ourselves, we must not let
our brain fear us because you just lose the opportunity. So stop doubting, you can do
anything and we are all equal.
