SUSTAINABILITY PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF AGRICULTURAL

COOPERATIVE’ OPERATION: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF

LITERATURE
The study's goal is to examine the foundation of agricultural cooperatives’
operations' sustainability performance evaluations and utilizing the findings, to build a
conceptual map that emphasizes measures using sustainability dimensions. Given the
objective, the study's central issue would be: Is it possible to quantify sustainability
performance in agricultural cooperatives? What elements of the sustainability
performance evaluation should be enhanced, given that the study's secondary objective
is to develop a conceptual map based on assessments of sustainability performance in
agricultural cooperatives?

According to the study, there is a lack of inquisition regarding performance

evaluation, as well as a lack of integration of the three dimensions of sustainability. In a
nutshell, this information suggests that there are some gaps in the assessment of
sustainability performance that are impeding progress and future research in the
agricultural cooperative. The study exemplifies mapping the cooperative performance
evaluation and integrating it with the sustainability dimensions due to the dominance of
Normativistic and Descriptive approaches.

The authors processed the document selection using the Knowledge Development
Process—Constructivist (ProKnow-C) method and Snowball to adapt the externality of
ProKnow-C. ProKnow-C requires variables/keywords to filter references relevant to the
theme, which uses aspects from the dimensions of sustainability for agricultural
cooperative evaluation. The dimensions expand on the themes of environment,
economy, and society, or the potential longevity of cooperative operations.

In theory and practice, the research is justified because adding more variables to
be used for performance evaluation and sustainability would result in a more
streamlined result, as stated by the researcher: "The study is justified insofar as the
achieved results allow the evaluation of the current stage of evolution of the
measurement of sustainability performance in agricultural cooperatives." The ability for
future researchers to identify potential areas for additional research is made available by
developing a conceptual map that summarizes the thematic categories of old
sustainability performance evaluation. This means that the criteria will continue to
develop to produce an even more streamlined outcome.

Overall, the study created an opening for more focus and attention towards the
improvement of the evaluations of performance on agricultural cooperatives because
they are the median in the supply chain. It is highly necessary that more research is put
into this as global demand for food increases. The takeaway is that the research did not
fully construct the context of performance evaluation, rather point out the lack of
thorough groundwork and the need for further investigation.
