Reading and Writing
Reading and Writing
(Book Review)
It is a story written by J.K. Rowling. It is book 1 of a story entitled
Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone. The book was first published in
the United Kingdom on 26 June 1997 by Bloomsbury. It was published in
the United States the following year by Scholastic Corporation under the
title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It is a fictional story All the
characters are fictional. The magic and other creatures in the book cannot
exist in real life. The main themes in this story include friendship,
privilege, nature versus nurture, discovery, and the power of love.
In a third-person, restricted point of view, Harry Potter and Sorcer's
Stone are recounted with an unknown and invisible narrator and the aim
of the story. Harry is the character who reveals the reading person's ideas,
sentiments and experiences. At some strange times in the whole novel the
narrator is omniscient and tells the reader what Harry thinks or feels. The
storyteller communicates mostly events and exposes, though, some of the
main character Harry Potter's thoughts and feelings. The other characters'
actions and ideas are conveyed to the reader through the discussions
between the personalities themselves. The acts and narrative descriptions
of the key characters tell the reader what kind of person the most
important characters are.
This first chapter introduced a series of significant components
without explaining them, stimulated our curiosity and underlined the
concept of this strange and far-flung other planet. From the very first
moment of time, Rowling created a huge buzz about Harry Potter, who is
the protagonist of the narrative. She does not explain the value of Harry,
but only demonstrates how its existence impacts the world. For example,
Mr. Dursley meets all kind of odd events, a cat reading a map, people
strolling in coats, the euphoric remark of someone who called You-
Known-leaving. Who's This is a powerful atmosphere of mystery about
Harry.
Cyberbullying
(Literature review)
Cyber bullying occurs on digital devices such as cellular phones,
laptops and tablets. The ability to see, share or engage in cyberbullying
can occur in text messages, applications, online in social media, forums
or games. Cyberbullying consists of transmitting, publishing or
distributing unpleasant, damaging, misleading or cruel information about
others. It may involve personal or private information disclosed about
another individual who causes shame or humiliation. Some cyber-
bullying leads to illicit or criminal conduct.
Not surprisingly, cyberbullying is a significant stressor in a young
person's life. In fact, research shows that 32% of kids who are targets of
cyberbullying report experiencing at least one symptom of stress. In
addition to feeling distressed, they also may feel embarrassed, hurt, and
even fear for their safety. They may even blame themselves for the
cyberbullying. Following are the emotional effects of cyberbullying:
Humiliation
Isolation
Anger
Powerlessness
In addition, this awareness might intensify emotions of dread, as
bullies can stay nameless. Sometimes targeted children may be unaware
of who infects pain, while some cyberbuli pick individuals they know and
do not have an issue with their identification.
You may lose interest and spend less time communicating with
friends and family. And sadness and suicidal ideas might occur in certain
situations. Following are the mental effects of cyberbullying.
Depression
Anxiety
Low self-esteem
Academic Issues
Suicidal thoughts
Self-harm
When cyberbullying takes place, victims might relate differently
with the world around them. Life might be meaningless and hopeless to
many.
Bullying of any kind may have both physical and psychological
consequences for a youngster. Anxiety, anxiety, sadness, low self-esteem,
behavioral disorders, and scholastic difficulty are just a few of the
difficulties that children may face if they are targeted. Cyberbullying, on
the other hand, has the potential to be especially harmful. There might be
numerous causes for this. In contrast to conventional bullying, which is
generally restricted to school and recognized bullies, cyberbullying can
occur at any time, day or night, and is committed by anonymous sources.
This makes it more ruthless and, at times, brutal.Even the form of
victimization can have an influence on its intensity. A study showed that
the harassment received by text messages or phone calls is more
detrimental for online photos and posts, for example. While cyberbullying
can take the shape of private communication in a public digital area, as in
social media posts—leaving a few children alone with this secret to
manage it..
