2. What is BAS? Enlist and explain various components of BAS at various levels. 14

3. What is role/utility of fire detection and alarm systems in buildings? List out various types 14
of fire detectors and in detail describe any two of them.

4. What is smoke and its ill effects and fully describe about smoke venting in building. 14

5. Prepare a detail note on the causes of fire in buildings. How does one classify fire and 14
grade buildings as per fire rating.

6. Enlist the occupancy groups as enlisted in chapter IV of NBC related to fire safety and 14
protection. With reasons explain the purpose and utility of this categorization of grouping.

7. A) Explain about "Fire Tower" and "Refuge Area" 7

B) Explain the fire. Escape means in buildings. 7

8. Why there is a need for mechanical ventilation in buildings? Explain the working of 14
centrifugal and axial flow fans and list their application.
