ABSTRACT

Soil is a crucial component in agriculture. There are several types of soil. Wide
variety of crops grow on different types of soils, and each type of soil has its
own set of characteristics. To identify which crops grow best in which soil
types, we need to grasp the traits and characteristics of distinct soil types. In
this instance, machine learning approaches may be useful. It has made
significant development in recent years. In agricultural data analysis, machine
learning is still a new and hard study topic. The traditional methods for soil
classification in the laboratory require time, man power and expensive. In this
we proposed a model using Convolutional Neural Networks that predict the
red soil type from other soils. Our approach is to develop a model to identify
whether the given image is red soil or not when user provides the input image.
The Process of detecting and identifying the red soil consists of several stages
that include image pre-processing, feature extraction and classification.

EXISTING SYSTEM :

The type of Soil traditionally have been determined by soil physical and
chemical properties, diagnostic horizons and pedogenic processes based on a
given classification system. This is a laborious and time consuming process. All
the surveys done on the soil are only for general purpose. Based on years of
experience, soil survey professionals assess soil texture using eye inspection
and "hand-feel" approaches. They look at the colour and size of aggregated dirt
particles and feel the roughness with their fingers.
DRAWBACKS OF EXISTING SYSTEM
1. Though There are successfull classifications to some extent that research is
remained to be only research paper only.
2. The practical Web application is not yet developed by many sources.
3. For mannual Analysis it is a time consuming process and requires more
labour.
4. User need to reach the research lab for testing the soil and then confirm
what type of the soil it is and what type yield should be produced.

PROPOSED SYSTEM :

We can use draw backs of existing system as an opportunity for automating

the process for identifying the Red soil type. A model is proposed for predicting
soil type based on the input image given by the user. The goal of the study was to
detect red soil using a soil dataset that included both black and red soil. we are
trying to develop an Web application for this purpose and this application will
based on vigorous training of the datasets using CNN and VGG16 algorithm and by
accuracy the final outcome will be produced.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
1 WINDOWS 7,8,10.
2 64-BIT SYSTEMS
3 2GB HARD DISK SPACE
4 MINIMUM 4GB RAM
5 I3 OR ABOVE PROCESSORS.
CONCLUSION

The results from this project can be used for rapid identification of red soil type.
This proposed system model will greatly help the farmers to identify the type of
the soil. The model was put to the test using a variety of training approaches,
including the CNN model and the VGG 16 algorithm. When the training time
period was doubled, the CNN model gave the best results. When compared to
other current techniques, the soil categorization accuracy is higher. The results
are quite encouraging, and higher levels of accuracy for the classification problem
will be achieved by obtaining a substantially enhanced dataset with high-
resolution photos shot lawfully using a high-quality DSLR camera.
