Discuss the following:

1. What are the different hormones that are involve in the regulation of glucose
metabolism in the body?
- The hormones that involved in the regulation of glucose in metabolism
of the body are the insulin, glucagon, amylin, GLP-1, glucose-dependent
insulinotropic peptide (GIP), adrenaline, cortisol, and growth hormone are
examples of glucoregulatory hormones. Among these, glucagon, amylin, and
insulin come from the pancreatic -cells, while GLP-1 and GIP come from the
intestine's L-cells. Glucagon and insulin, two important hormones, work
together to maintain glucose homeostasis.
2. What are the different diseases related to Abnormal Glucose Metabolism such
as Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia?
- When blood sugar levels are excessively high, hyperglycemia develops.
Those with untreated diabetes can have hyperglycemia. When blood sugar
levels are too low, hypoglycemia develops. This is typically an adverse effect of
blood sugar-lowering drug therapy.
