6 Steps to Boosting
Your Search Rankings
with Facebook Ads.
There are a large variety of tactics
used to boost Amazon listing rankings.
People will risk their seller account
and throw loads of money away in an
attempt to climb up the search rankings.
Thankfully at Private Label Masters
we’ve developed a tactic guaranteed
to give you a precise, planned boost to
your listing without breaking the bank
or violating Amazon’s terms of service.

This is done using Facebook Ads. It

not only serves as an excellent tool in
your Amazon arsenal, but functions
as an excellent introduction to the
extremely powerful platform that is
Facebook Ads. This guide will provide
a comprehensive breakdown of one
of the key ways we use Facebook to
boost our sales and reviews.

HOW’S IT WORK?

Amazon’s search rankings are driven in part by sales volume.

When a customer uses a specific search term and purchases
your product after doing so, your listing gains points in Amazon’s
relevancy algorithm and as a result moves up the rankings. By
using what is called a “Super URL”, we can provide customers on
Facebook a link to our listing that appears to be an organic search
in Amazon’s system. After this link drives them to our listing,
they will use a coupon code we provide them. This provides us
many benefits such as driving sales to our listing without giving
away products, getting bonus points in the Amazon algorithm for
driving Facebook traffic, improving our brand page on Facebook,
and lastly allowing us to engage the customer directly with the
potential for getting a good review. While Facebook advertising
can seem somewhat daunting at first, this process also allows you
to get your feet wet and begin adding Facebook advertising to
your entrepreneurial arsenal.

Process Overview
1

Find which keywords you’d like to boost.

2
Find how many sales each day it takes to get to the first page
for these keywords.
3

Generate a “Super URL” that mimics an organic search.

4
Create a post on your brand’s facebook page with the
discount info and Super URL.
5
Run traffic to the ad by boosting it, and using an audience
generated from previous sales info.

6
Personally messaging each customer that comments on the
ad, sending them their coupon and requesting a review.

Step One: Finding www.getwsodo.com

Keywords to Boost
www.getwsodo.com

Before creating our Facebook advertisement, we need to determine which search terms we want
to boost our listing for. This can be a subjective process, as you need to decide which keywords are
most important for you to be ranked well for. However, a good place to start is by checking your
top competitor’s titles. Odds are the top sellers for most products will have done their homework
for top keywords, and we know the best place to put these main keywords is in the title. So if you’re
unsure what to boost try and find some recurring keywords in your competitors’ titles.

Step Two: How Much to Boost

There are a lot of different services that help determine how many sales are needed each day to
reach the first page, however in the past many of these have overestimated how much you need
to give away. A trap many sellers fall into is that they decide that they are selling these products
at such a cheap price that the difference between 5 per day and 15 per day doesn’t matter
much. However, we don’t double our business year over year by being careless, and selling at a
discount can add up fast. The service that we’ve used to find the ideal amount without consistently
overshooting is AZ Analyzer (https://goo.gl/vmUvuS). This is a program designed for product
research, however they provide an excellent estimate of sales per day for each keyword. We will
use this amount in their AZ Analyzer software to determine how many units are needed to reach
the first page. Fill out their prompt with some rough estimates and check the amount needed for
each of the keywords you chose to boost. Write down next to each keyword you’ve chosen the daily
number of sales needed.

Step Three: Generate a Super URL
www.getwsodo.com

Now there are a few different ways you can generate one of these URLs. Some are easier than
others, but they all have the same end goal of appearing as an organic search in Amazon’s system
whilst driving the customer directly your listing. The two methods we suggest are called the
Storefront URL and the Search Filter URL. We’ll briefly touch on each, they work equally well
however if your storefront has multiple products you’ll need to use the Search Filter URL.

Storefront URL:
To create this URL, start by going to your product listing. Just above the bullet points there will be
a line that says “Sold by (Seller Name) and Fulfilled By Amazon.” Click on the seller name and this
should take you to your profile. Right on the top it should say “(Seller Name) Storefront”. Choose
this to be taken to your storefront. Once this has been done you can type in your keyword into the
search bar. We use this Storefront URL to make sure that our listing is the only one that shows up,
while still appearing to be an organic search in Amazon’s system. Copy the link for each keyword
you plan on using, and you should have your Storefront URLs ready to go!

Search Filter URL:

To create this URL you first need to search your keyword on Amazon. After doing so, use the filters
provided by Amazon to filter down the search results as much as possible without disqualifying
your product. The goal is to have your product as the only product in the search result. If you are
unable to do narrow it down just to your own product, we suggest setting your product price to
something obscure. For example, if your normal price is $10.99, try setting your price to $10.83.

5
Facebook Advertising

This should allow you to sort by prices between $10.82-$10.84. Play with this until your product is
www.getwsodo.com
www.getwsodo.com
the only product in the search results.

Once you have a search result where your product is the only one shown, take a look at the link, it
should be some long jumbled mess such as this:

of+bag&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Awaterproof+bag”

Note that our actual keyword shows up twice in the link. Use this link for each keyword and merely
put in the keyword you plan on using. Make sure to put a “+” between each word. Use this to create
Search Filter URLs for each of your keywords.

Once you have your Super URLs, we’ll need to shorten them.
As you can tell, these links are a little longer than we’d like and would not look pretty in a Facebook
ad. We suggest using the Chrome extension Amazon URL Shortener to slim them down. Once
you’ve created and shortened a link for each keyword, make sure to confirm that the link works and
your product is the only one that shows up. After you’ve tested it, you should have recorded the
keywords, giveaway amounts needed, and working Super URLs. Now it’s time to create our ad!

Step Four: Create a Post on Facebook

At this point you should have a Facebook brand page for your products. If not take the time to
create one before doing this. We are going to use a post on this brand page to drive traffic to our
listing.

To create our ad we need the copy and the images.

Here is the template we use for the copy of our ads:

“(Product Name)!
90% Off on Amazon with Exclusive Coupon!
Only $2.99!
List Price: $29.92
(Daily giveaway amount) Coupons Handed Out Per Day!

How to Redeem:
www.getwsodo.com
www.getwsodo.com
In order to be eligible you must do the following:
1)Like this Post
2)Tag 2 Friends in the Post

We will then Direct Message the 90% Off Coupon!

Reminder: If you do not follow the two simple steps above, you will not receive the 90% Off
coupon.

READY SET GO!!!!!”

This format is important because Facebook rates advertisements based on a relevancy score and
this is boosted by likes and tags. Facebook will reward our post by showing it more when we score
a lot of engagement. Make sure to throw some emojis throughout the ad to make it pop!

Now that we have the copy written, it’s time to create the images. Unlike Amazon, Facebook
requires a certain amount of white space to ensure an ad isn’t too spammy. We will use some text
to make our image pop though. Add things such as the discount amount and Prime logo to make
your image stand out. Here is an example of one of our ad images:

7
Facebook Advertising

In order to ensure that your images www.getwsodo.com

meet Facebook’s recommended amount of white space, we
www.getwsodo.com
suggest that you test each one on Facebook’s Overlay Tool. This will rate your images based on
whether or not they meet Facebook’s terms of service.

Once we’ve written our copy, added some default images of our product with some added text as
well as any lifestyle photos you’d like to add, we can create our post!

Step Five: Drive Traffic to Your Post

Now that we have our keywords, giveaway amounts, Super URLs, and post created, it’s time to start
driving customers to your listing! In addition to having a compelling ad and a good product, great
Facebook advertising requires effective targeting. On Facebook this is done by using a specific
“Audience”. In order to figure out who we’re going to target with our ad, we recommend signing
up for the software called Manage By Stats (https://goo.gl/xVkaHF). Inside this software if you
select “Customers” and hit “Generate Report” you can download the report type called “Facebook
Customer List”. Once you’ve selected this report type it will load all of your Amazon brands. Upon
choosing your brand and product, you can generate a file that lists all of your past customers in
a format that Facebook can use to target people with similar interests to these customers. This is
what we will upload to Facebook.

8
Facebook Advertising

www.getwsodo.com
www.getwsodo.com

In order to upload this file to Facebook, select the drop down in the top right of Facebook and
select “Manage Ads”. Once you’ve done this it will take you to the Facebook Ads page where you can
select “All Tools” under the main dropdown. From here we’re going to choose “Audiences”.

9
Facebook Advertising

Once you’re on the Audiences page,www.getwsodo.com

you’ll choose “Create Audience” and select “Lookalike
www.getwsodo.com
Audience”. You’ll then select “Create New” and proceed to upload the file from Manage By Stats
once prompted. Once the file successfully uploads, choose “Audience Size” as 1% on the meter and
then add United States under “Location”. After this you should be able to create your audience!

Now that we have our Custom Audience we can boost our post. So go back to your brand’s page
and select “Boost Post” under the post we’ve created. Here you can set your budget and add our
new audience. Also make sure to set the duration at 7 days.

In order for a ranking boost to have an impact on Amazon, it needs to be run consistently for
at least 7 days. This goes for any ranking strategy.

Once you’ve done all this you can begin to boost your post!

However, before traffic begins to reach our post we need to make a few quick changes in
Ads Manager. Go back to Ads manager and select the Ad Campaign you just created. This will take
you to the “Ad Sets” section. In this section you want to select the “Edit” button. This will pull out a
sidebar that allows us to make some targeting changes to our new advertisement.

www.getwsodo.com
Step Six: Engaging www.getwsodo.com
with the Customers

Once you’ve created your post and started driving traffic to your ad, you should start to see
comments rolling in! Each time someone tags two friends and likes the post, you want reply to their
comment saying “COUPON IS ON THE WAY!”. After you’ve done that hit the “Message” button below
their comment. Here is the template we recommend using for your first message:

“Link: (Insert one of your shortened Super URLs)

Promo Code: (One of the single-use promo codes from the list Amazon provides)

And if you could be so kind as leaving us a Product Review once you receive the item, we would be
so so so appreciative!

Enjoy!”

Don’t be afraid to throw in some emojis, and make sure to rotate your links as often as you
need. It’s important to track how many times you send each link so you hit the daily amount for
each keyword, and it’s important to track which coupon codes you’ve sent so you don’t send any
duplicates.

10 Days after sending the coupon we recommend sending the following message:

“Hey just wanted to check to see if your (Product name) was delivered in one piece? Amazon has
been having some shipping issues and just wanted to make sure.”

This almost always receives a response confirming they received it. After they do respond answer
with some emojis and “Glad to hear it!”
Immediately after this we recommend sending this message to get some reviews:

“We are a small family owned business and it is hard to compete with some of the giant companies
on Amazon. The only way we can is with honest reviews. It takes 10 seconds, and even a two word
review such as “LOVE IT” will do wonders for us. If you could do this we’d really appreciate it.
Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/review/create-review?asin=ASIN.”

Make sure to swap out your actual ASIN for the bolded part at the end of the link.

11
Facebook Advertising

www.getwsodo.com
www.getwsodo.com

We need to make sure that we send the write amount of links each day for the respective
keywords. Once you’ve hit the daily amount required for all the keywords you’re boosting, make
sure to comment saying “ALL COUPONS FOR (date) HAVE BEEN CLAIMED. THE NEXT CODES WILL
BE GIVEN TOMORROW (Tomorrow’s date)!”. This let’s everyone know their codes are on the way,
and keeps the opt-ins rolling in.

As you continue to boost each keyword keep an eye on your rankings to see if the ads are working
after a few days. Also, check and make sure that the coupons are being claimed. If not consider
giving out slightly more than you need to so that you make sure to hit that daily sales amount
required.

After completing this entire process, you should have successfully created a highly
converting Facebook Ad that boosts your ranking on Amazon, increases your sales, and
acquires some of those highly valuable reviews for your listing. The process takes some getting
used to, but as you get better with Facebook ads this will be a massively valuable tool for as you
as a private label seller. Make sure to follow this guide step by step, and PLEASE keep this trick to
yourself. Strategies like these are what allows us to grow businesses from the ground up, much
faster than our competition. When trade secrets such as these get out, we lose our edge.

We recommend only using this strategy after your first product has become well established or to
help launch your second product. This is an advanced tactic that requires sales history to create an
audience and a good looking Facebook brand page.

If for any reason you have any questions regarding Facebook ads or this process, feel free to
reach out on the Private Label Masters facebook group.
