Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Research problem
Work-related stress has a wide-ranging impact on emergency health workers. This type of stress
has physical as well as psychological impacts.
1.2 Research background
Work-related stress has a significant impact on the mental health of workers.
1.3 Research aim
The research is aimed at investigating the impact of work-related stress on emergency health
workers.
1.4 Research objectives
● To investigate the impact of the work-related stress on performance
● To identify the dimensions affected by work-related stress
● To recognise the factors responsible for work-related stress
1.5 Hypothesis development
H0 Work-related stress has an impact on the performance of the employees
H1 work-related stress has no impact on the performance of the workforce
1.6 Significance of the study
The study will highlight the detrimental impact of work-related stress on emergency workers and
identify the impact of the same on performance.

Chapter 2 Literature Review
2.1 Introduction
This chapter will look into the impact of work-related stress on employee performance, identify
the dimensions affected and determine the factors accountable for work-related stress.
2.2 Investigating the impact of work-related stress on the performance
Work-related stress impacts the organisational performance, reduces the performance of the
employees and produces erroneous and poor-quality work.
2.3 Identification of the dimensions affected by work-related stress
The mental and physical health of the employees is affected by work-related stress. The mental
health factors include anxiety, depression, discouragement and a pessimistic attitude.
2.4 Recognition of the factors responsible for work-related stress
The factors responsible for work-related stress include the workload, long working hours and
demands of the job and so on.
2.5 Theoretical framework
Job Demand Control model
The job demand-control model advocates that job characteristics impact the psychological well-
being of employees. This theory also states that the employees can regulate the stress factors and
can gain control and autonomy by utilising the skills.
2.6 Literature gap
The previous works of literature focussed mainly on the performance of employees in general.
Less relative information is available regarding the impact of work-related stress on emergency
health workers.
2.7 Summary
The factors causing work-related stress have been identified and the impact of work-related
stress has been described as well.

Chapter 3 Methodology
3.1 Research philosophy
A positivism research philosophy will be chosen for conducting this study.
3.2 Hypothesis

H0 The productivity of the workforce is negatively impacted by work-related stress.

H1 Workforce productivity is not impacted by work-related stress.

3.3 Sampling
The sample will comprise 300 people and the participants will be nurses, technicians and
physicians.
3.4 Data collection source
The data collection source will be quantitative and the data collection method will be primary.
3.5 Data Analysis
Primary quantitative data will be analysed to justify the implications of the findings.
3.6 Ethical considerations
Ethical norms such as informed consent, anonymity, confidentiality and non-harming practices
will be considered for conducting this primary research.
