TAG QUESTIONS
Tag questions (or question tags) turn a statement into a
question. They are often used for checking information
that we think we know is true.

Tag questions are formed by using the auxiliary verb of a


sentence (do, have, be) and the subject pronoun.

Examples:
She hasn’t had a good day, has she?
We work today, don’t we?
You are happy, aren’t you?
TAG QUESTIONS
If the main clause is positive, the question tag is negative,
if the main clause is negative, the question tag is positive.

Examples:
We are in the classroom, aren’t we?
They don’t speak English, do they?

The question tag after I am is aren't I.


For example: I'm in charge of the food, aren't I?
VERB TO BE

She is a good person, isn’t she?

They are in the USA, aren’t they?

SIMPLE PRESENT

Martha teaches English, doesn’t she?

We don’t go to the movies, do we?


SIMPLE PAST

I studied for my exam, didn’t I?

He didn’t buy a new car, did he?

SIMPLE FUTURE - WILL

Luis will help tomorrow, won’t he?

You won’t come, will you?


FUTURE GOING TO

She is going to cook later, isn’t she?

They are not going to travel, are they?

PRESENT PERFECT

We have played the piano, haven’t we?

He hasn’t ended yet, has he?


PAST PERFECT

We had written that letter for her, hadn’t we?

They hadn’t spoken for years, had they?

USING MODAL VERBS

I can read the book, can’t I?

She souldn’t speak that way, should she?
