INFLUENCER PART 5:

Matthew 28:18-20 ESV

Introduction:
18
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
Good morning po mga kapatid. This is the last Sunday of October and the last
part of our series, “Influencer: Making a godly impact.” We as believers are called to
influence others that will make a godly impact in their life. And when we talk about godly
impact we don’t simply talk about life here on earth but also life after the life we had
here on earth. We talk about an impact that will affect their eternity.
If we will some up everything that we studied so far from first Sunday until last
Sunday. We saw two important things na paulit-ulit na binanggit nila Pastor Dino at
Pastor Remar when it comes to making a godly impact. of God’s word is Important
(Psalm 19:7-8, “the word of the Lord is perfect and right” Psalm 1:2, “his delight is in the
law of the Lord”) and Christian living: a life that is for God’s glory (Matthew 5:16, “let
your light shine” 1 Corinthians 10:32, “do it all for God’s glory).
What is godly impact/influence means? Its helping others comprehend who
Jesus is, grow in their understanding of the Word, and make God-honoring choices.
That will impact their eternity. But how are we going to that? We do that by being
intentionally involve in…
Body:
Proclaiming the Gospel
19
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Yung manifestation ng word or yung good example of Christian living is
important. When people are drawn near to you because of the manifestation of your
faith in God in your life, the next step will be proclaiming the Gospel to them. The word
“Go” there does not simply means to go but its implication is go and proclaim the
gospel. In Mark 16:15 ESV it say, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the
whole creation.” In acts 1:8 ESV, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
We become witnesses of Jesus when we proclaim the Gospel. Why it is
important that we proclaim the gospel? First, because it was God’s command. 18 And
Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,…” It is God who commanded us to
INFLUENCER PART 5:
Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
proclaim the gospel to all people, it was him who gives us authority to do so. We don’t
proclaim the gospel because we are more righteous than others, we proclaim the
gospel because God commanded us to do so.
Second we proclaim the gospel because God desires that all people to be saved,
1 Timothy 2:1-4, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and
thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that
we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good,
and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Third, because only through the proclamation of the gospel that someone can be
saved. Without the proclamation of the gospel there will be no salvation for other, there
will be no godly impact that will happen to the people around us. But what is the gospel?
gospel? When we proclaim the gospel what should we proclaim about?
That’s a good question thank you for asking. Let go first what proclaiming the
gospel is not?
That’s not the gospel, its false gospel were
people are drawn to not because of Jesus but because of what they can get out of it.
but not converted. Kaya pag may narinig sila sa iba na convenient for them dun sila
tinatanggpa nila. Bakit ganun? Because what they have received was not the true
gospel.
The true gospel? Expose the true nature of man, that we are sinner (Romans
3:23) that we are in need of a Savior (Romans 6:23, John 3:16) and through the power
of Christ resurrection we receive new life (Romans 6:4-8, 2 Corinthians 5:17). Nito
Dasovic na isa ring influencer, “The question has to do with a person going to heaven. If
a murderer can go to heaven? To which she respond, ‘if that person genuinely repented
and believe in Jesus, Yes! How about a good person who go to church who do good for
others? Which she responded, if that person does not believe in Jesus, No.” What
surprise me was not her answer because that’s the truth based on the scripture, but the
reaction in the comment section that says, “Christian din kami pero hindi kami tulad niya
to judge other people.” Because many convince Christian does not truly comprehend
what is the true gospel and what they have received maybe was a false gospel. Kaya
nga po we need to proclaim the gospel to people. We need to point people to the saving
power of Christ on the cross and his resurrection. Without the proclamation of the true
gospel there is no salvation for others. We might inspire them but it will not lead them to
eternal life with Jesus.
INFLUENCER PART 5:
Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
Making disciples
19
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,…
In the original text proclaiming the gospel and making disciple are not two
command but one. In short as we go and proclaim the gospel we need also to disciple
those who believed in Jesus. Kaya nga sabi ni Jesus, “baptizing them” may conversion
na mangyayari. Nagshare ka nga ng word of God it is also our responsibility to take
care of the new converts.
mananampalataya. Try to imagine this for a moment. If you have a new baby in the
family, bilang isang magulagn or pamilya pababayaan mo ba na yung sangol ay
alagaan ang kanyang sarili mag-isa? Same is true when it comes to discipleship.
Because there is a tendency na madeceived sila o di kaya naman tumigil sa
paglago dahil walang nagguguide sa kanila or worst magwithraw sila sa faith. To be
honest it happened to me nang maraming beses. I’ve been entrusted by God with
people to lead but eventually hindi ko rin masyadong nabigyan ng pansin. Infact as I
was doing my devotion in the book of Galatian. And as I reflect toward the word of God
with regarding how Paul take care of the people he led, I know that I am lacking. And I
am thankful to God because it help me realized through the word of God what I need to
do. What I have learned this past few month in Christian living is never compare
yourself to other Christian but rather compare yourself to the word of God.
To make disciples mean to make new converts and the old converts student of
Christ. Who will obey all God has commanded us. “…teaching them to observe all that I
have commanded you.” Matthew 28:20 ESV. What do we need to teach them? Not our
opinions about life or about certain topics. We need to teach them the word of God and
help them to see if they are walking according to it. That’s what the word observe
means. So the question is, are we really preparing the people whom God entrusted to
us to do what God called them to do? Or are we just simply doing church because it
becomes our habit or because we are in leadership position.
Sa mga Christian parents dito, do you proclaim the gospel to your children or
your complacent just because they are attending the church. Do you train them to read
the word of God to know their God and savior? Not because they are attending church
means they are Christian if they don’t believe in Jesus it will be pointless. It is important
to disciple your children especially right now were too much information is accessible to
them.
manggagawa at leader ng church natin are being intentional in discipling those whom
God has entrusted to us. Umaattend
naman na din sila ng church.
INFLUENCER PART 5:
Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
Let us not be complacent in making disciple. Let us be intentional about it. If you
are leading someone in Christ commit yourself to that. Wag mong bitiwan kasi
commission yan ng Diyos sayo. Ako po ay 17 years nang Christian, I am discipling now
for almost 11 years. Marami nang pinagkatiwala ang Diyos sa buhay ko, some of them
are not attending the church anymore, yung iba because of personal matter, yung iba
But you know those 11 years I thought I am doing okay kasi nagdidisicple naman ako.
Yung pala I’m not doing it right. I am not being intentional, I am not training them well in
But God in his great mercy rebuke
me through the life of my professor sa subject naming church planting. And I am
thankful to God. And hopefully kayo din makita niyo yung importance ng discipleship.
Because if we desire to make a godly impact that will last for eternity we cannot miss
out discipleship.
We need to disciple them so that they will grow in their faith in God and so that
they will be able to disciple others.
Conclusion:
Question: Do I truly care for the lost?
There was a story that I’ve heard from one of the seminar I attended. It was a
story about the first wave of Christian missionary in China. I can’t remember exactly the
name. But upon proclaiming the Gospel in china there are many people who believe in
Jesus. This missionary (John) that I was mentioning was able to meet one Chinese man
who believe in Jesus (Wang).
At habang nagkwekwento
At
Diyos.”
buhay. Pero kung nais talaga natin magcreate ng godly impact sa buhay ng iba that will
impact their eternity. We cannot miss this, we need to be intentional about it.
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 18:20) Wag kang
matakot sasamahan ka ng Diyos.
