Field Assembly Procedure

WARNING
Please be advised that unprofessional use of explosives or assembly of
DYNAenergetics –DYNAWELL Perforating Systems by untrained or inexperienced people may kill or injure. The
safety standards for well site operations and the handling of explosives should be adhered to.
Explosives should be destroyed only by Authorised Persons (according to National Law and Regulation)

Notes:
- Refer to the attached assembly drawing for item numbers
- During assembly, inspect all of the components carefully for damage or unacceptable surface condition
(rust, rough finish etc.). Pay special attention to sealing surfaces (seal bores and ring grooves) and threads.
1. Remove all parts from packaging and confirm that no parts are missing.

2. Clamp the Firing Head Upper Body (TCP-FH-6001-287) in a bench vise in a horizontal orientation during the
assembly process. Use the Initiator Retainer Wrench (TCP-FH-0005-238) to remove the Heavy type Initiator
Retainer (TCP-FH-0008-238) from the Firing Head Body.
3. When the Retainer is removed, remove the part bag from the bore of the Retainer. This bag contains the o-rings
needed for assembling the tool. The part number for each o-ring is marked on each bag.

4. Apply some assembly grease to the -020 (OR-020-1-90) and -113 (OR-113-1-90) O-rings. Apply the -020 O-ring
in the circumferential groove on the Percussion Initiator (2311829). Then apply the -113 O-ring in the face groove
of the Percussion Initiator.
5. Apply assembly grease to the bore or the Initiator Retainer and install the Percussion Initiator into the Retainer.
The top of the Initiator will protrude as much as .040” (1mm) from the top of the Retainer.

6. Apply assembly grease to the -125 (OR-125-1-90) O-ring. Insert this O-ring into the circumferential groove on the
Initiator Retainer.
7. Apply assembly grease to the threads of the Initiator Retainer. Screw the Initiator Retainer into the bottom of the
Firing Head Body using the Retainer Wrench (TCP-FH-0005-238). Do not use a snipe on this wrench. When
tightening by hand you will feel when the initiator bottoms out, no more tightening is necessary.

8. Install a Firing Head Handling Sub (TS-MGO-275) on the bottom thread and a Tubing Joint with a Coupler and
Lifting Sub on the tubing thread of the Firing Head before removing the Firing Head from the vise.
9. The complete Firing Head must be stored and transported in this condition until it is ready for assembly on the
gun string.
