In each case, try to say honestly where you are now, rather than where you would like to be, or where
you think you should be.
I involve team members in the process when I need to recruit someone new
I take time to plan induction for new team members, and check how it has worked
I provide feedback on performance, particularly when I notice something especially good or bad
I take time to work out why any dips in individual performance have occurred
At busy times, I make sure that I am doing my fair share of the work, including boring tasks
I am clear about what exactly I am delegating, including how much control I want to keep
I keep track of everyone’s workloads and try to make sure that the work is balanced across the team
I think about workloads, skills and development needs before delegating work
When I recruit a new team member, I look for someone who will complement the other team members
I make sure that conflict is handled rapidly, and not allowed to continue
Communication
I ask my team about what they are doing, both individually and as a group
I pass on communications about organizational issues, provided they are not confidential
I keep information confidential when necessary, including having systems to prevent accidental sharing
