What is cooperative society
• A co-operative society is a voluntary association of individuals having
common needs who join hands for the achievement of common
economic interest. Its aim is to serve the interest of the poorer
sections of society through the principle of self-help and mutual help.
• The main objective is to provide support to the members. Nobody
joins a cooperative society to earn profit. People come forward as a
group, pool their individual resources, utilise them in the best
possible manner, and derive some common benefit out of it.

What is NCCF
About of NCCF
• NCCF was established on 16 th October, 1965 to function as the apex
body of consumer cooperatives in the country. It is registered under
the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002. It operates through
a network of 29 Branch Offices located in different parts of the
country.
• NCCF Headquarters is situated in New Delhi. The management of
NCCF vests in the Board of Directors. The ultimate authority of NCCF
vests in the hands of the General Body. Board of Directors exercises
all the powers of NCCF except those reserved for General Body. The
current sanctioned strength of the Board of Directors is 21

• NCCF, as an organisation to promote consumer cooperative movement in


the country, aspires to facilitate the voluntary formation and democratic
functioning of cooperatives, based on self-reliance and mutual aid for
overall economic betterment and financial autonomy.
Mission of NCCF
• As an apex organisation for the Consumer Cooperatives, NCCF is
committed to apply the knowledge and resources acquired over years
of its functioning to ensure the following:-
• To satisfactorily meet the requirement of consumers
• To maintain transparency and focus on consumer satisfaction- Focus
on Consumer Satisfaction and maintain transparency
• To continuously strive to achieve higher standards of performance
• To enable growth of all its member co-operatives through
dissemination of best practices and use of technology
• To achieve higher growth better market penetration keeping the best
interests of consumers in mind
Commercial activities of NCCF

• Obtaining and supplying of agricultural products.


• The import and export of consumer goods are made.
• Trading of non-agricultural products. Some of the non-agro products include coal, fertilisers,
pesticides, etc.
• Supplying of stationery items for office use to government departments.
• Many consumer goods such as wheat, rice, sugar are distributed as per government schemes.
• Construction of hospitals and housing projects all these comes under the development of
infrastructure, which also includes the development of cattle sheds, animal hostels, etc.
• A system called as public distribution system under which the supply of day-to-day items such as
tea, salt, toiletries, sugar, sanitary items, etc. are supplied in the State of West Bengal,
Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and other states which comes under the public distribution
system.
• Supply of Power Generation Units such as imported coal and other utilities.
• NCCF is one of the special agencies of the Government of India for exporting onion to other
countries.
Highlights on Annual Report
• Grocery:- . The sales of grocery items were of the order of Rs. 464.01
crores whereas last year’s sales were Rs. 420.78 crores; an increase
of 10.27%
• Textile:- Business of the Federation also witnessed a remarkable
increase from Rs. 75.83 crores during the last year to Rs. 83.57 crores
during the period under consideration. In terms of percentage, it is an
increase of 10.21 % which is again quite significant.
• Civil Construction:- Similarly, the Federation increased its civil
construction business from Rs. 30.98 crores to Rs. 32.75 crores; an
increase of 5.71 % over the last year performance.
