HOW TO HAVE PERSONAL, SPIRITUAL GROWTH

“Philippians 3:10”.

-It should be the goal of every Christian to be mature in Christ.

It is not enough to have merely a “head knowledge” of God and
His word, because it is vital that you may get to know the Lord
Jesus Christ of the Bible!

1. Share, in your own words, the significance in the relationship

of the pronouns in the phrase, “that I may know Him,” and that
phrase to the rest of the verse.

Like Paul says that his heart longs to "know Him and the power
of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings." The
phrase tells us to know that there is God. To know Him refers to
Jesus, who suffered, died, and rose again. The resurrection of
Jesus overthrew death and provided the way to know the Lord.
Knowing Jesus is knowing that there is God because Jesus is the
physical representation of God. Knowing and accepting God in
our lives allows us to know Him more and have a deeper rela-
tionship with Him. This will enable us to live like Christ.

2. Identify the men of God in following verses and point out

what you often find each of them doing in his personal life.
Daniel 6:10, Luke 6:12, 9:28; Colossians 1:9-12.

These men of God in the following verses always recognized God

in all their life situations since they met Him. They pray to ask
for guidance and knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom
and understanding to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and
pleasing to Him. Daniel prayed toward Jerusalem in response to
the word of God. He got on his knees and prayed, a sign of rev-
erence and humility. Jesus also went out to the mountainside to
pray to God.
3. What lessons can we find in these verses? Ephesians 3:14-15;
Colossians 4:12; James 5:16.

In these verses, we can learn that a prayer is a powerful tool in

every circumstance and situation we have, whether it is good or
bad, because worshiping God through prayers and recognizing
Him through the communication of prayer allows us to open,
give us knowledge, and lighten our minds.

4. What are some directives for a Christian’s prayer life? Ro-

mans 12:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

As Christians, we need to pray continually. Christians need

to recognize God by communicating with Him through prayers.
Prayer allows us to have a deeper faith and relationship with
God. We should pray with all our hearts on joyous days or suffer-
ing and in any situation. Prayer will give us hope, and with
prayer, we know that God is with us and guiding us.

5. How are the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ involved in our
prayer life? Romans 8:26-27; Hebrews 10:19.

The Holy Spirit and Jesus allow us to have access to God through
faith. These two introduce us to the presence of God, and they
serve as a bridge that makes a way to connect us with God when
we pray. The Holy Spirit empowers our prayer, and by the name
of Jesus, it brings our prayers and us to God. The temple of the
Holy Spirit is our body, and Jesus Christ was the one who saved
us in the salvation of our sins. We also need to recognize these
as part of the prayer because they are God's representation.

6. What do we find is also important in one’s personal Christian

life? Acts 17:10-11; 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16.

Even if we are Christians, it is also important to do our best to

present ourselves to God as one authorized, a worker who does
not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of
truth. Moreover, we should strengthen our faith and relationship
with God.
7. What effect should the Bible have in one’s life? 2 Timothy
3:17; Hebrews 4:12.

The effect of the Bible in one's life should make the word of God
in our life living and active. We should not just read the Bible,
but we should also put it in our hearts and minds and allow it to
become part of our lives.

8. What person is the central character of the Bible? John 1:1-

5, 14; Philippians 3:10.

The central character of the Bible is Jesus Christ. Although God

is the creator of all, the center of the story in the Bible tells the
life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and His life on Earth
because God sent him to be His physical representation to help
people to recognize God. Through him, all things were made for
us men and for our salvation.

9. Upon what kinds of things should a Christian meditate as

well as memorize? Joshua 1:8; Philippians 4:8.

As Christians, we should meditate as well as memorize the Book

of the Law of the Bible on our lips, with all our hearts and
minds, and it should be meditated on day and night so that we
can observe and be careful to do everything according to what is
written in it. Then we will become prosperous and successful in
our life as Christians and as a servant of God.

10. What else is needed in a Christian’s spiritual life? Psalm

119:11; 1 Timothy 4:15.

As Christians, it is important to become diligent in matters and

give ourselves wholly to your Christian works, especially to the
Lord, so that there will be progress and spiritual growth. This
will make everyone see your progress and encourage them to do
so. Spiritual growth results from trusting that Jesus is living in
and through you

11. What does the “Grace of God” instruct us to do as Chris-

tians? Titus 2:11-12.
The grace of God teaches us about righteous behavior to act ac-
cordingly. The grace of God appeared to bring salvation to all
men. It also teaches us to deny and say “No” to ungodliness and
worldly passions and to live according to the will of God.
