Project planning
1. CONTROL POINTS WITH KNOWN POSITION AND THEIR IMAGE CAN BE
IDENTIFIED EASILY ON THE PHOTOGRAPHY.

2. PROVIDES MEANS FOR ORIENTING OR RELATING PHOTOGRAPHS TO

GROUND.

3. MUST SATISFY TWO REQUIREMENTS:

- SHARP WELL DEFINED AND POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED ON THE PHOTO.
- MUST LIE IN FAVOURABLE LOCATIONS.

4. NORMALLY CONDUCTED AFTER PHOTOGRAPH ACQUIRED TO SATISFY

REQUIREMENTS.

5. DOES NOT FALL IN SHADWED AREAS ON SOME PHOTOS.

Project planning
 Horizontal control
- Images must be very sharp and well defined horizontally:
Intersection of roads, Manhole covers etc…

 Vertical control :
 well defined vertically

FLIGHT PLANNING
 Flight map: shows where photos are to be taken
 Specifications: how the photo will be taken
- Camera and films requirement
- Scale
- Flying Height
- End (longitudinal ) and side lab (transversal)
- Tilt and crab tolerance.

END LAP AND SIDE LAP
 Exercise 1 : Air base of a stereo-pair is 1400 m and flying height is 2440
m, Focal length of camera is 152.4 mm and 23 cm format. What is the;
percent of End lap? If the spacing between adjacent side lap is 2500 m.
What is the
 Solution:

 Scale average = F/Havg = (152.4/2440) x 1/1000 = 1/16000

 Ground coverage G= 23 cm.(1/16000)x 1m/100cm
 Percent of End:
 PE = {(3680 m -1400 m)/3680 m } x(100%) = 62%
 Percent side lap
 PS = {(3689 m -2500 m) / 3680 m } x (100%) = 32%
