FAQ’s for Student Leave

Q1: Can I participate in curricular activity if my attendance percentage is less than 75%?
A1: Yes. Subjected to the condition that his/her attendance should be at-least 75% in
NON-DL period in order to appear in exams.

Q1 (b): What does NON-DL and NON-ML period mean?


A1: NON-DL and NON-ML period mean Non Duty Leave and Non-Medical Leave period. For
e.g.:- If 40 lectures were delivered and you took 10 lectures DL and 5 Lectures ML, then
Non-DL and Non-ML period is of 25 lectures.

Q2: What if I forgot to apply predated duty leave?


A2: There is NO option of post-dated duty leave except NCC and Summer Exchange
category for which the duty leave has to be applied within two days after the
event/program.

Q3: How can I view my duty leave on CUIMS?


A3: You can view your duty leave in the attendance view column on CUIMS.

Q4: How much benefit shall I be given for duty leave?


A4: Student shall be granted maximum of 10 duty leaves per subject in a semester.

Q5: When should I have to maintain 65% attendance for availing the benefit of duty leave?
A5: No criteria of 65% is to be followed as per policy.

Q6: Do I have to maintain 65% attendance for NCC/Placement activities?


A6: No. For these activities, full benefit of the missed lectures shall be granted without
having any minimum requirement of attendance percentage.
Q7: How can I apply for duty leave?
A7: Please refer process to apply duty leave for the same.

Q8: Can I apply the medical leave for viral fever of three days?
A8: Yes, student can apply the medical leave for minimum of 3 days for viral fever but the
final approval shall lie with the medical board only.

Q9: How can I apply medical leave?


A9: You have to apply for medical leave through CUIMS within SEVEN days after returning
from the period of sickness.

Q10: Who will approve my medical leave?


A10: All the medical leaves shall be approved by Medical Board of the university.

Q11: What all documents I need to bring while applying for medical leave?
A11: After applying online leave within seven days. During physical verification a student
need to bring all the proper medical documents like Prescription of doctor, admission in the
hospital, blood reports, test reports, discharge slip and fitness certificate (which ever
documents stands eligible).

Q12: Can I apply medical leave during the start of the semester?
A12: The medical leave can be applied during the N.R (Not Registered) status also.

Q13 (a): How many medical leaves can I avail?


A13 (a): A student can take maximum of 10 working days cumulative medical leave where
each medical leave period cannot be less than 3 days.

Q13 (b) What if student is ill for period of one month or more?
A13 (b) In this case student need to submit the application/form to the E-Governance Cell
for consideration.
Q14: Shall I get the benefit of attendance for general leave?
A14: No. This leave is only to felicitate the continuation of active status of the student.

Q15: What is the minimum duration of the general leave which I can apply?
A15: You can apply for general leave for minimum 5 days through CUIMS.

Q16: What If I forgot to apply predated leave?


A16: Leave cannot be applied post dated.

Q17: What if my status gets converted to N.A due to non-applying the pre-dated leave?
A17: You have to get your status changed to Active after returning from leave through
concerned head of the department through CUIMS.

Q18: I am a TPP registered student. What kind of benefit I am entitled with in regard to
Duty leaves and Medical Leave?
A18: TPP registered student shall be entitled to 5 Duty Leaves per subject in whole
semester. The benefit of Medical Leave shall remain same as for normal student.

Q19: How can I apply all the three kinds of leave?


A19: Please refer to the process to apply leave on CUIMS.
