2. Explain the contribution of Taylor & Gilbreath in the field of industrial
engineering.
3. What is Productivity? What is relationship between work study &
productivity?
4. Apply industrial engineering techniques to various manufacturing /
service fields to improve the productivity.
5. Explain the reasons for excess work content & also explain the
techniques to reduce it.
Chapter 2 : Method Study
1. Define Method study & explain basic symbols of method study.
2. Explain all following charts. Also explain importance of these by an
industrial example.

3. Explain (i) Micromotion study
(ii) SIMO chart
4. Construct a two handed process process chart for an operator washing
glass bottles with brush whose normal cycle is as follows:
Pick up two glass bottles with left hand
Put them on fixture
Press the fixture with right hand towards the brush
Extend left hand and pick up two more bottles
Wait few seconds
When washing is complete with draw fixture with right hand
Life to washed bottles on side table and simultaneously load
Fixture with two bottles ready for washing.

1. Define work measurement & explain its techniques.
2. What are the elements of time study.
3. Explain various types of allowances & its importance.
4. Explain standard time with work measurement table.
5. Explain work sampling

Chapter 4 : Ergonomics & Industrial Safety
1. Define ergonomics & what are its objectives.
2. Explain man machine system and its functions.
3. Elaborate following terms-
(a) Design of displays
(b) Design of controls
(c) Environmental factors
4. Explain manual material handling systems and its approaches.
5. Define accident, its causes and prevention. Also discuss ILO Norms for
prevention of accidents.
