Leaning my personal beam to the torch of smartphones in connection to the type of media
I want to divert my attention to, this paper will then tackle nothing less than the role of smart
phones and other in-depth contribution of this thing to the globalization process.
Starting with the function of the smart phone in globalization, this thing is in fact the key
that opens the portal of shared communication that transformed personal and spread relationship
between people across the globe because people needed not to go or flew over just to talk one
person personally when just one click of a finger, this thing called phone can deliver messages
within a second and the power of video call makes distance communication a lot easier. Other
remarkable development of this device opened the series of opportunities that hold a huge benefit
to the spheres of social life like education, business, leisure, and entertainment.
Education in the sense of studying for example a specific language has put another realm
of light to the globalization process. Phones takes a huge responsibility because we people can
learn other languages even without the presence of a teacher. There are apps that can be installed
that will help us familiarize phrases and worlds from different people and that it makes
communication process legitimately convenient. Also, if one person does not want to know other
language thoroughly, now direct translation makes sense bragging about the apps that translate
one person’s mother tongue to different preferred language and languages, now learning foreign
languages was effortless, trouble-free, and inexpensive, a way more possible than before.
Moreover, students like me have been dependent to this thing when the mode of education was
change amidst the pandemic, smartphones became the most useful tool that continues the paradigm
of education of course for those less fortunate students, those that don’t have other resources.
Other positive role of smart phones to the world of globalization was to make the people
better informed. The world became one or as connected like never before because of the
widespread social media platforms, smartphone became then the instrument that helps people be
informed. Issues from the different parts of the world sometimes became the hottest or the latest
talk in the town reflecting about what happened between Ukraine and Russia, even people from
remote areas knows the situation which became the reason of the downfall of some sectors and
became the reason of the fluctuating state of the economy. Because of such device, people now
have the guts to be aware everything and anything happening in the globe, there’s no even darks
secrets that cannot be revealed.
As per result, there were a lot of functions smartphones has done for the globalization to
withstand breakthrough which I cannot afford to brag it all. I choose smartphone a type of media
that has a huge connection to globalization because smartphone now plays a very important role
that made me a successor or a contributor to this phenomenon called ‘globalization’. Little did I
know that having a phone made me a person that was influence by other culture and changes the
way I supposedly was before, it changes how I dress, what genre of movies to watch for and what
products to purchase for.
