Power is said to be like love, impossible to define but easy enough to recognize.
Power is understood as the ability to influence other people and events.
Power is the ability to influence people of things usually obtained through the control of
important resources that is according to White and Bednar.
Power has the ability to influence another person the process of affecting the thought
behavior, and feelings of another person then the authority comes the right to influence
another person.
With the behavioral revolution in politics, the central topic of the latest study in political
science has become the study of the power. Probably the best-known definition of power is
that of Marx Weber he was the one characterized the power as the chance of man or a number
of men to realize own will in a communal action even against the resistance of others who are
participating in the action.
Nature of Power
1. Power as an interactive process or the relational concept power as a social exchange
reward and punishment.
2. Power as a space and constraint/ domination boundaries third power as an autonomy:
independence and freedom.
Power and Interests
The reformist, seeing and deploring that everyone’s wants are given equal weight
by the political system, and also relates in their interests to what they want or
prefer, but it allows that this may be revealed in more indirect and sub-political
ways.
In brief, my suggestion is that the one-dimensional view of power presupposes a
liberal conception of interests, the two-dimensional view a reformist conception,
and the three-dimensional view a radical conception. And I would maintain that
any view of power rests on some normatively specific conception of interests.
