What is a natural disaster?

A natural disaster is characterized by the abnormal intensity of a natural agent
(flood, mudslide, earthquake, avalanche, drought) when the usual measures to
be taken to prevent this damage were not able to prevent their emergence or
were not able to be taken.

Explain the causes of an earthquake or a volcanic eruption:

Earthquakes are caused by a sudden release of stress along faults in the
earth's crust. The continuous motion of tectonic plates causes a steady build-up
of pressure in the rock strata on both sides of a fault until the stress is
sufficiently great that it is released in a sudden, jerky movement.

What is the Servicio Sismológico Nacional (National Seismic

Service)? And the USGS? What is their purpose?

The National Seismological Service is based on registering, storing and

distributing ground movement data to inform authorities and the population in
general about the country's seismicity, promote data exchange and cooperate
with other monitoring and research institutions at the national level. and
international.
