Marquis De Lafayette
During the American revolution, one of the many remembered participants was
Marquis De Laffete. One of the many things he did to contribute was to break the French
king’s rules, the refusal to go to America. Of course, Lafayette went anyway, with the
fighting spirit.

“On June 13, 1777, he landed in North Carolina. The Continental

Congress had given the distinguished volunteer an honorary commission
as a major general, but his actual duties were as aide-de-camp to Gen.
Washington, to whom he brought personal and political devotion,
eagerness and ability in the performance of military duties, and the
assurance that the American rebels were not alone in their cause. “
Once Laffayette returned home in the date of 1779, he was arrested for disobeying
royal command, via going to America, but political necessities soon overrode
considerations of military punishment, and he was called to Versailles by the king, who
wanted a firsthand report on how things went in the new “United States of America.”
Although not all of his proposals for his aid in the American Revolution were accepted,
Lafayette returned to America in 1780 with the command of the French Auxiliary forces.
In 1781, he was given command of defense of Virginia as a major general for the United
States.
“ His maneuverings eventually drew Charles Cornwallis, the English
commander, into the trap at Yorktown, where he was blockaded by the
American forces and by French troops brought by a French fleet under
Adm. de Grasse. Cornwallis's surrender on October 19 brought the
American war of independence to its military conclusion…”
Laffyette had performed well on the battlefield against the English again.
bringing them to a strong victory in Yorktown. without Lafayette and the French, the
American Revolution, America would have never won the war. If they did, they would
have barely a slim chance of becoming victorious. Laffayette’s role as a General had also
progressed them forward.
In a closing summary, Lafayette had broken the French king’s orders of not going
to fight alongside the Colonists and had gone anyway. As of getting arrested by breaking
the law, he was finally admitted to go back and fight in Yorktown. bringing victory to the
colonies, he was within the American Revolution.
