Why some wounds just don’t heal...

4 million people suffer from chronic, non-healing wounds in this country.

The number one cause is diabetes. The diabetic ulcer of the foot and leg are the most
common chronic, non-healing wounds in the diabetic patient. Scientists agree that the
diabetic ulcer is “neuropathic” in origin. That means that the underlying problem of
non-healing is the nerve damage to the skin of the leg due to the chronic diabetes.

The number two cause of non-healing wounds is spinal cord damage.

The wounds of paraplegics and quadriplegics do not heal properly
due to nerve damage resulting in damage to the immune system.
Christopher Reeves (Superman) was being treated for a non-healing skin ulcer
that caused a systemic blood infection. The blood infection lead to
heart failure which resulted in his death.

A properly functioning nervous system is absolutely critical

for the normal healing and repair of the body.

The healing process can be interfered with.
