WHAT I NEED TO KNOW

Good day dear learner!

This module is solely prepared for you to access and to acquire lessons befitted in your
grade level. The exercises, drills and assessments are carefully made to suit your level of
understanding. Indeed, this learning resource is for you to fully comprehend on how to “Plan
and prepare for termination / connection of electrical wiring/ electronics circuits
(TLE_IACSS9-12TCEW-IIIe-f-21) & Terminate/ connect electrical wiring/ electronic circuits
(TLE_IACSS9-12TCEW-IIIg-i-22)” independently. You are going to go through this module
following its proper sequence. Although you are going to do it alone, this is a guided lesson and
instructions/directions on how to do every activity is plotted for your convenience.

Using this learning resource, you ought to “Plan and prepare for termination /
connection of electrical wiring electronics circuits (TLE_IACSS9-12TCEW-IIIe-f-21) &
Terminate/ connect electrical wiring/ electronic circuits (TLE_IACSS9-12TCEW-IIIg-i-22)”
as inculcated in the K-12 Most Essential Learning Competencies.

At the end of this module, you are expected to achieve the following objectives:
select appropriate tools and equipment according to task requirements;
prepare electrical wiring/ electronics circuits correctly for connecting/
terminating in accordance with instruction and work site procedures; and
promote safety procedure in using tools and use appropriate personal
personal protective equipment at all times.

WHAT’S IN

Directions: Read the statements carefully then write TRUE if the statement is correct and write
FALSE if it is wrong. Write the answer on your answer sheet.

___________1. For current electricity to flow, electrons need a good conductor to allow them
to move.
___________2. In a typical household wire, the metal interior (i.e. copper) is a good conductor
and the coating (i.e. plastic) is an insulator.
___________3. The stored energy in a battery is called "Kinetic Energy".
___________4. An ammeter is used to measure the current in a circuit.
___________5. The current in a simple series circuit is the same in all parts of the circuit.

WHAT’S NEW
Directions: Read the situation carefully and answer the questions that follow. Write your
ideas on your answer sheet.

You were charging your cellular phone and certainly it stopped during the process. It
happened that you only have 20% of the battery life. Circumstances like this calls your immediate
action.

WHAT IS IT
Electrical Hand Tools and their Uses

Electrical tape is a popular cable management solution, used to insulate wires

that conduct electricity.

Cutter blade used to strip wires score the jacket of the wire by gently applying
pressure.

Philips screwdriver designed to be used with a type of screw that has a slot in
its top.

Insulating gloves offer personal hand protection for workers against electrical
shocks.

2
Multi-meter is mainly used to measure the three basic electrical characteristics
of voltage, current, and resistance.

Flat-head screwdriver used to tighten or loosen screws that have a straight,

linear notch in their heads

Retractable tape measure used to measure size or distance.

Tweezers used for picking up objects too small to be easily handled with the
human fingers.

Needle nose pliers used for gripping, bending, and cutting small-gauge wire.

Soldering iron is a hand tool used to heat solder, usually from an electrical
supply at high temperatures above the melting point of the metal alloy.

Electrical Termination

Electrical termination of a signal involves providing a terminator at the end of a wire or cable to
prevent an RF signal from being reflected from the end, causing interference.

Electrical Connections

Whether adding new electrical gear or rewiring something already aboard, the requirements for
a reliable and safe electrical connection are the same.

Soldering

It should enable you to solder wires to electrical connectors, splices, and terminal lugs.

Soldering Process

Heated metals tend to oxidize rapidly. This is the reason the oxides, scale, and dirt must be
removed by chemical or mechanical means. Grease or oil films can be removed with a suitable
solvent. Connections to be soldered should be cleaned just before the actual soldering
operation.

Splicing Techniques

A Simple circuit contains the minimum things needed to have a functioning electric
circuit. A simple circuit requires the following:

1. Source ‐ a device used to supply AC or DC voltage

2. Consuming ‐ any device that consumes voltage, whatever component or piece of

equipment that is connected to a source and draws current from a source is a load on
that source.

3. Controlling ‐ any device having two states, on (closed) or off (open). Ideally having
zero impedance when closed and infinite impedance when open.

4. Protecting ‐ a component used to open the circuit when the current exceeds a
predetermined maximum value.

5. Connecting ‐ a material that conducts electric current very well and used to connect
a complete path for current.

WHAT’S MORE

Directions: Identify what is being described on each sentence. Write the answer on your
answer sheet.
_____________1. Electrical circuit in which the continuity is broken so that current does not
flow.
_____________2. A type of circuit in which the flow of current is cut off.
_____________3. A circuit in which the components are connected from end to end so that
the current has only one path to follow through the circuit.
_____________4. All components are connected across each other, forming exactly two sets
of electrically common points.
_____________5. A circuit where there is more than one path for the current to flow through.
_____________6. Used in any electronic device with a battery for a power source.
_____________7. A safety device used to protect an electrical circuit from the effect of
excessive current.
_____________8. It is a pathway for carrying an electrical current.
_____________9. Chemical energy is converted into electricity and used as a source of
power.
_____________10. Material that conducts electric current very well and used to connect a
complete path for current.
