She spent seven weeks observing, assisting, and teaching in my Health & Physical Education classes. Norview is in an urban school district that has a diverse student population with various socio- economic and cultural backgrounds. Classes were a mixture of students that included regular & gifted education students, students with learning disabilities and English language learning students, which offers a challenge to even our most experienced teachers. Her ability to manage the daily routine and the classroom discipline was excellent. Ms. Hourihan’s warm personality and rapport with the students were excellent. Her willingness to take suggestions, modify lessons, work with others and experiment with new strategies demonstrated her motivation and reflection about teaching and learning She was able to communicate effectively with all students and displayed many fine personal and professional qualities to an outstanding teacher. Her professionalism was excellent, and she assumed teaching responsibilities in a responsible and dependable manner. During her student practicum, Ms.Hourihan took responsibility for teaching classes and assumed the duties of teaching an entire unit. Because of her creativity and enthusiasm for health & physical education, students responded positively to her lessons. Ms.Hourihan showed initiative, a desire to continue to learn, and grow. Along with her command of health & physical education practices and her effective teaching strategies with adolescents, she is a model of an excellent teacher. | would strongly encourage you to consider her as a prospective teacher candidate.
