THE WHOLE TRUTH

The whole truth is a Thai Netflix movie with a Genre of Horror. It was released on Dec
2, 2021 and has since made a good rating because of its interesting twist in the end.
The film started with showing the Family of Mai which consists of her children, Pim and
Putt, driving to school. She told her children that she was going home late that day and
told them to take care as they get in their school. Then the frame focused on the two
teens struggling with their school life. Putt getting bullied by his so-called friend while
Pim’s backstabbing friends are planning on doing some damage on her because of
jealousy. Later through that film, their mother got into a car accident and was left in a
comatose. The two teens were saddened by this event and was left alone in their house
until a strange old man knocked in their door telling them that he is their grandparent.
He introduced himself as the father of their mother, Mai, and he wanted to take them
back to his house since they are left alone. From here, I noticed how sudden and
creepy the old man introduced himself to the main characters because he came during
a dark stormy night and suddenly introducing himself as their grandparent. The teens
doubted the guy at first but later on believed him and agreed on living in his house as
their mother heal from the accident. The old man introduced himself as Mr. Somphong
and his wife as Wan, he told them their grandma has dementia. The two main
characters noticed the weird behavior of their grandmother but they just assumed it was
because of her mental illness. I noticed that the grandmother seemed like she has OCD
because the food she was serving was always perfectly arranged in the plate.
The next day, they noticed a small hole in one of the walls of the house. When Putt
peeped through it, he saw an dark old living room and assumed it was the house of the
family who was living next door. He told Pim about it but she ignored what he said. Then
another day passed and I noticed that the grandma was always serving her grandson,
Putt, milk while Pim always has water. Pim told her grandfather about the hole they saw
in the living room wall and said that they might need to repair it. The grandfather went to
the wall but cant see the hole that Pim was saying. The two siblings couldn’t believe that
their grandparents couldn’t see the hole they were seeing and tried to convince them
about it but the grandfather frustratedly told them to stop their mischief and stop
troubling them.
Another day passed and Pim finally decided to look through the whole and there she
saw a small girl. It was dark and gloomy in the room. Every time the two main
characters peep through the hole they saw different chilling events happening. One time
they saw the girl spitting blood, then they saw her crawling and looking right through
them. But one thing they know is that the hole was actually present. Putt comes up with
a wormhole theory, and he believes that the hole links to two parallel realities. As the
day goes by, Putt noticed that he was getting sicker every day that he was in that
house. His grandma would always give him milk, saying that it can comfort him and
make him feel better. So while giving breakfast to Putt, his grandmother notices his
sketchbook. She was surprised to see a drawing of a man with a hole in his head, she
got angry and told Putt that he shouldn’t draw things like that. Putt explained that he
didn’t draw it and had no clue why its there. She keeps yelling him until she stopped like
she was possessed and ask herself why she was in the room again, she told Putt to eat
and yelled at him why he didn’t finish his milk yet. Once his grandma was out, he
checked his sketchbook but he couldn’t find the drawing that his grandma was talking
about.
Mr. Somphong, on the other hand, was seeking revenge for what happened to his
daughter. He was always in the hospital everyday waiting for his daughter to wake up.
Then tried to seek the person responsible for the accident, he learned it was the son of
a rich man, so he plotted a dark plan to do his revenge. Until, Pim called him and told
him that Putt was seriously sick and was coughing up blood and they needed to bring to
the hospital. He told them that he will be home soon, so he went home. He went home
and saw the two looking at the hole again and told them to stop with their craziness. He
told them to help him carry the cabinet so they could cover the hole. They covered it
and he told them that its fine now, they shouldn’t worry about the hole anymore. Then
after that he took his old gun and went looking for the son of a rich man. He dressed as
police, like before, and stopped the guy under the overpass road. He beat the guy and
grabbed him and pushed him outside of his car. He told them he shouldn’t be alive and
then poured liquor to the guy’s face and lit him up. As the night gets deep, something
was banging against the wall in the living room as if trying to knock down the cabinet
that was covering the hole. Then the cabinet fell down, it woke the two characters and
they went down to see what happened. The grandfather received a call telling him that
Mai finally woke up so he immediately went to the hospital leaving the three cleaning
the mess from the cabinet.
Mai on the other hand was petrified when the doctor told him about her father and her
children staying at the house of her parents. She wanted to go and get her children.
Then the scene turned to the three in the house cleaning up. Putt advised his grandma
to rest and they will finish the cleaning instead. Then suddenly Wan reveals that she
could also see the hole, but her husband thought that she was delusional and never
believed her. He started giving her medications because he felt she had dementia. Wan
tells her grandchildren that she had been seeing the little girl for the past 15 years.
Next, Mai runs away from the hospital when she comes to know that her kids were
staying at her parent’s house. She reaches her parents house and that’s when the truth
was finally uncovering. The twins got to know about Pinya through the last event that
the hole showed where they saw the girl alive and played hide and seek with her father
Krit. Pinya hid inside the storage room under the stairs until her father forgot about her.
Pinya had died years ago because of Krit’s negligence, or that’s what Mai believed until
then. Pinya had accidently locked herself inside the cupboard while playing hide and
seek with her father. Krit, after telling his daughter to hide, had passed out on the couch
due to overdrinking. When everybody came home, they found Pinya dead in the storage
room and blamed Krit for it. But obviously, it wasn’t the whole truth.
Pim and Mai realized that Pinya died because of the glass of milk that Wan was always
giving her. They found this out because she forced Putt to drink the milk and called Putt
Pinya. Mai realized that the milk has poison because she saw a dead cat outside with
blood from its mouth because of drinking the milk Putt dropped. Putt also started spitting
out blood, and he realized that his grandmother was poisoning him with rat poison. Wan
admitted to killing Pinya to save Mai from judgement and the curse. She wanted a pretty
and perfect granddaughter but Pinya was ugly because of her deformed face and she
saw Putt the same way because he was crippled.
Mai finally took her children away from her parents and took them home. Then later that
night, Wan was again disturbed by the ghost of Pinya, she went down and opened the
storage door and saw Pinya’s ghost which hugged her, telling her she loves her then
possessed her. Mr. Somphong went down to look for his wife and saw her lying on the
ground with poison on her hand and blood on her mouth, she drank the rat poison. He
cried for his wife.Then, Mr. Somphong got a call from his police friend telling him that
the son of the rich man was found murdered that night and asked him to come to the
police for his statement. The police also said that the guy was not actually the one
driving the car but his friend. The guy was actually telling the truth that he wasn’t
responsible for Mai’s accident, Mr. Somphong was shocked because he acted before
knowing the whole truth.
Then when he turned around, he saw his wife standing with her back when he turned
her around. He saw the guy he burned mocking him and trying to walk towards him so
he shot the guy multiple times not knowing he shot actually shot his wife. He finally
realized that so he went to her and cried. Then he took the gun and shot himself. The
next scene showed Mai with her children, she was holding a drawing of their family with
Krit there telling them about him. The children were curious how he died, she told them
that he committed suicide but the whole truth is she was the one who shot Krit which
made the hole in the wall. She can also see the hole but she never dared to look at it
because of her conscience, the last scene showed Mai wearing a red dress while
looking at the mirror with a strange smile while applying a red lipstick. The lesson I have
learned from this is that there is a two-faced reality of life. Its always important to know
the situation entirely and know the whole truth before reacting to it. Sometimes, our
actions are not recoverable, and the damage that it might cause will be permanent.
