Lesson Title: Verbs


Subject: English
Grade Level: Grade 2
Lesson Length: 60 minutes

I. Analyze Learners

Learners General Characteristics: The lesson is designed for 2 nd grade elementary


students. The class consist of 40 students, this is an in-class support class comprised of
19 male and 21 female students. Academic aptitude and learning styles differ. Students
in general are easily distracted and tends to lose focus quickly. The students are all
young, and almost all of them have a limited ability to concentrate.

Entry characteristics: The students are becoming more acquainted with the basics of
technology. As a result, they are fascinated and curious about various types of media
and technology, which leads to active participation.

Learning styles: Although the class is comprised of students of all learning styles, most
students in the class are tactile learners.

II. State Objectives:

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

a. Define what is verb

b. Identify the action verbs being used in a sentence

c. Construct sentences using verbs

III. Select Strategies, Methods, Media, and Materials

Strategies. A variety of teacher-centered and student-centered strategies have been


designed for this lesson.

Technology and Materials. Students will have access to PowerPoint presentation.

Media. Students will use print, audio, texts, visuals such as photos and clip art.

IV. Utilizing Media, Materials and Method

Prepare the materials: With the assistance of the instructional technology coordinator,
TV, laptop and HDMI will be used for the teaching.

Prepare the environment: One student per armchair, facing front that consist of 5
columns and 8 rows.

Prepare the learners: Students will be prepared for this lesson during the discussion.

V. Require Learner Participation

The teacher will have a game called “charades” where each student in the class will
write down three or four action verbs on a scrap of paper. The teacher will collect all the
papers, group the class into two teams, and have one student from the first team pick a
verb out of a box. They have one minute to act it out. If their team guesses correctly,
they choose another verb and act it out until the minute runs out. After each student act
out the verbs in the first group, then it’s the next group’s turn!

VI. Evaluate and Revise

Assignment: On your assignment notebook, write a story on what happened in your life
today that features the verb in many different conjugations. Read it in the class on our
next meeting.
