Hello everyone!

In this episode of Walk ‘n’ Talk you’ll learn not only new vocabulary but
also new expressions! Let’s practice by checking out the dialogue, the
expressions and repeating all the sentences!

A: Jeff is quite unhappy with his job these days.

B: Why? Isn’t his new manager cutting it?

A: No. And not only that, the new manager is less than honest.

B: That sounds like big trouble. Jeff should go over the manager’s
head to the top brass and get the guy fired.

A: It’s not as easy as it sounds. The manager’s uncle is on the board

of directors.

B: Sounds like Jeff has a lot on his mind these days. Keep me posted.
Meanwhile, I’ll see if I can pull some strings.

Expressions:

To cUT iT
To successfully complete or accomplish a desired or expected result, to

To go over someone’s head

To take up an issue with another person’s boss or other superior rather
than dealing with the original person.

“She went over his head and took her complaint to the president”
“I got furious that he went over my head and complain to my boss.”

Top brass
The person or people with the most authority, power, or influence in a
group or company.

“He used to charge a lot of money when he was the top brass of
the business.”
“You need to talk to the top brass to have that problem solved”

To pull some strings

To use the power or influence one has over others, especially people of
importance, it is to get what you want, or to help someone else.

“He had to pull some strings with the president of the university.”
“They’re going to pull some strings to get this investigation going.”

Listen to this episode as many times as possible, this way, you’ll be able
to memorize all the expressions and vocabulary you’ve learned!
