阿玉的 cover letter:

Dear Angelique Yemma,

I am writing to you to express my interest in an open position for Art Therapist at Mount Sinai
West inpatient adult psychiatry unit. My pursuit of Art, both academically and personally, have expanded
my experience with how human express/heal themselves through art practice, which attracted me into this
field. I have been working as an Art Therapy Extern at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center since November
2020. Because of my experience working with a similar population and success to guild clients
expressing in a limited setting, I believe I will be a great candidate for this role.

I have earned a master’s degree from New York University with the main courses focusing on
psychotherapy, art therapy practice, evidence-based research, and cross-cultural competency. Through my
training and internship practicums, I have adopted client-centered and heuristic approaches into my
practice along with constantly developing knowledge of diverse artistic mediums/expressions. In addition,
I have volunteered in different summer camps locally and internationally, which integrated art therapy
practice to assist children to cope with grief and mental health struggles.

Currently, as an Extern at Jamaica Hospital, I am responsible for developing art therapy

directives, facilitating art therapy and leisure groups, maintaining safety and organization of the
environment, and documenting treatment progress and assessment. Responding to the rapid-changing and
culturally diverse population in the metropolitan area, I am competent in assessing the needs and goals for
both group and individual settings and implementing interventions for psychiatric stabilization and self-
expression. When designing art therapy directives, I am sensitive to clients’ cultural expression and
needs for the structure which I provide prompts accordingly. Furthermore, I am proficient to encourage
clients who are hesitant to participate in art therapy through additional activities such as Origami or
Round-Robin art-making to promote interests and rapport building. To maintain the safety and
effectiveness of the groups, I am skilled in adjusting interventions and approaches in an efficient manner.
When documenting progress notes and conducting assessments, I tend to provide specific details in a
clear manner to ensure the comprehension of clients’ progress within the treatment team. Additionally,
speaking both Mandarin and English, I have assisted with the communication between staff, clients, and
clients’ family members about treatments and referrals.

Because of these experiences, I have established the capacity of facilitating effective art therapy
groups, modifying clinical interventions to respond to clients’ needs, and performing multiple tasks
timely. I would love the opportunity to work at Mount Sinai West and continue to devote my enthusiasm
and clinical knowledge to health care service. You could reach me through email: myc375@nyu.edu
Thank you for your consideration and time.

Sincerely,

Ming Yu Chang

Dear Hiring Manager,

I would like to introduce myself as an applicant for the Artist position at Cloud Clearwater. As a lifelong
artist, I am confident in my ability to create expressive and interesting pieces that match the needs of your
clientele. Based on my experience and education, I feel that I am well-suited for the Artist position.

Ever since I could hold a pencil, I have been creating works of art. From pencil sketches to pastel
drawings to Bob Ross-inspired paintings, I did it all. At a very early age, I knew what I wanted to do with
my life. In high school, I took Advanced Placement Art and won several awards. By the time I finished
high school, I knew that my area of expertise was painting. The walls of my childhood home are still
covered with my paintings.

During my education at Longford Tech I studied art history, design, drawing, color theory, and painting.
Throughout college, my work was selected to be in many art shows, including the TradeLot Art Show,
one of the biggest shows on the West Coast. My paintings featured a wide range of subjects such as
mermaids, people, sailboats, beaches, monuments, plants, and much more. My favorite element to
experiment with is color. I enjoy seeing how a colorful painting can add brightness to any room. The most
rewarding part of being an artist is seeing the face of the client when they see their finished order.

Thank you for your time and consideration of my application. I look forward to learning about Cloud
Clearwater and its clients. I feel that the Artist position will allow me to utilize my well-practiced skills to
add value to your company.
