Develop 3 arguments of what are the tools used for addiction recovery or sanctification (according
to your group): Describe the tension between “12 steps and process groups (healing addictions,
inner wounds happening over a period of time” and “Prayer ministry oriented groups/ gifts &
anointing of the Holy Spirit. Instantaneous, miraculous healing for addictions and inner hurts”.

Wednesday 16th November, 7:30pm we will have a debate your group will present the 3 arguments
and later respond to the other group’s arguments.

The format of the debate:

1. Each team will have 10 min to present their 3 arguments.

2. Each team will have 10 min to respond to the other groups arguments. (You will have 15
min to prepare the counterarguments after the first presentation).
3. Each team will have 3 min to present final statement of the group’s viewpoint. (You will
have 10 after the 2nd presentation to prepare it.)

As you develop your group’s viewpoint take in consideration Biblical perspective, recovery
principles, etc. You can be as creative or academic as you wish.  Have fun!

You will also be writing your own personal report that is due Monday 21th November. In 2 pages
(double spaced, font size 12) describe your personal biblical counseling worldview of addictions
recovery and sanctification in the following format:

A. Describe the 2 competing viewpoints involved in the tension. (6 pts.)

B. Give what you believe to be the biblical perspective on the subject. (5pts)

C. Describe your present beliefs about the subject. (5 pts.)

D. How would your counseling be influenced by your present beliefs? (4pts)
