TITLE OF THE Reading Breakdown

READING 1. What is the reading all about?

The intention of this article is to discuss Republic Act No. 1425, often known as the
"Rizal Law," and its aims of re-dedicating the values of freedom and nationalism for
which Rizal and other heroes have lived and died. It also discusses the law's history
and the controversies surrounding its passage.

2. What did you learn from the article?

I learned that the bill's purpose is to educate younger Filipinos and to remember Jose
Rizal and his two books as an inspirational source of patriotism among the youth. I
also learned about the contentious history of the Rizal Law. The church opposed the
law's passage because Rizal's writings included anti-Catholic ideas and it would
violate freedom of conscience and religion.

3. How does the article relate to the lesson?

The article focuses on the subject's lesson, which is to discuss the significance of the
Rizal Bill, to revisit the significance of Jose Rizal's two great works, and to explain
how Rizal helped Filipinos recover their feeling of independence and became a
national hero.

How does it develop and/or promote nationalism to you?

It contributes to my sense of pride and nationality. The thought of Rizal's battle

against oppressors is enough to make me realize how important it is for my country's
freedom and security to be preserved. This article let me understand that Republic Act
No. 1425 (Rizal Law) strives to educate the future generation of students and re-
dedicate Rizal's heroic efforts by supporting Filipino thoughts to be open to change.

How does it develop and/or promote patriotism to you?

The article made me understand that the Rizal Law is a critical step in reviving
patriotism and honoring the heroes who battled for our freedom. The article, and
particularly the Rizal Bill, helped me recognize the cost of freedom that was paid for
by the heroes who were able to attain their ideals.

How does it develop and/or promote volunteerism to you?

If there is an opportunity, I would volunteer for community services or work to assist

my fellow citizens. It is critical for fellow Filipinos to assist one another in times of
distress. I recognize that the country is in bad shape and that it is critical that we all
support one other in this dreadful scenario. I aim to do everything I can to help my
community, and I hope that the Rizal Law will motivate Filipino youngsters to be
more compassionate with one another.
